Modi should retire.
Not because he was never effective, but because no leader should become the permanent operating system of a country this large. He is 75, has been PM since 2014, and is out of any serious ideas for reform or growth. That is usually when a healthy political system starts preparing the next generation, not pretending one man must stay forever.
This is also an especially terrible moment for geriatric incumbency. AI is beginning to disrupt work, media, education, bureaucracy, warfare, everything. India needs leaders who actually understand the next twenty years, not men whose instincts were formed in the Doordarshan era and are now reduced to managing anti-incumbency with ration politics, caste arithmetic and election-cycle revdi.

Why did the IRGC attack Indian flagged vessels?
Simple. They needed to make a statement about their control on the Strait of Hormuz.
They needed a target symbolically big enough to make a noise. So Maltese and Panamanian vessels ruled out.
Amongst the bigger countries - Russia and China are their allies.
That left India, the neighbourhood softie which makes grand statements and lofty announcements, without the capability, will, or apetite to do anything of consequence in retaliation. It is also a fence sitter.
That's why Indian flagged vessels were chosen.
Even the fact that India sheltered an Iranian Naval vessel and its crew at the height of hostilities was set aside.
That's the real hole India's foreign and security apparatus has to dig its way out of.
