Thank you. Beautiful. I’ll remember forever the day I drove off for an appointment and recieved a harrowing call that my son was injuring himself. I got back home to see my husband crying. He’d tried to stop my son from beating his head and couldn’t. He didn’t know what to do and he was heartbroken. I am the calm in when my son has a storm and I’ve had to push down everything in me to help him through. We’ve come among way but it’s etched in my mind forever.

My son has severe autism and is nearly nonverbal. @j00ny369T In 4th grade I would go to a room at our tiny rural school and solve puzzles and patterns for some guy. I think I remember the headphones. I think I met with him 4 times total. It was 1981. I have hazel eyes, my dad saved me from drowning when I was 5, never broken a bone.

@BoLoudon Some of it is just 20 years ago if a kid had autism, it frequently went undiagnosed, the kid was referred to as slow or challenged. Now if a kid acts a tiny bit abnormal they get a mental illness diagnosis so its overdiagnosed. With that said this does need more study.
