@33KV@ThrashPunkRacc@vladuhat999@nyaraVT Rights are intangible, but they are nonetheless real. It's like etiquette. Those rules are non enforceable, but it doesn't mean there's no rule which hand to use for the fork
@Humsterr@ThrashPunkRacc@vladuhat999@nyaraVT If that burgler is the state or its agents, or those untouchable by the state, your rights disappear. Women never had property rights till some states afforded them. You think "rights" are tangible. They're not. You have nothing except what those more powerful than you afford you
It’s crazy how as a trans woman I’m just expected to “debate” my existence and validity as a woman, while governments criminalise our healthcare
There is no nuance to be had when the media and politicians want us dead, but I’m supposed to convince every transphobe of my position
American logs into her federal student aid account so we can see her actual loans and payments
- She took out a $49,548.74 loan
- She’s made 120 payments, paying $25,558.36
- Her current balance is $50,121.33
So after paying $25,558.36, she now owes more than she took out
“It's all such a scam”
@33KV@ThrashPunkRacc@vladuhat999@nyaraVT When a burglar wants my property he takes it. What does it matter to my rights? He doesn't decide my rights. State doesn't either. Otherwise rights don't exist, only the will of the State exist, again, see Leviathan by Hobbes
@Humsterr@ThrashPunkRacc@vladuhat999@nyaraVT yes, exactly that. You can take property at the threat of violence. That's how it works. The more powerful you are, the easier it is. When the state wants your property, they take it. YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS, you only have what the state allows.
@Humsterr@ThrashPunkRacc@vladuhat999@nyaraVT "It can kill me and it can imprison me, that's all". That's all? A second ago you said you had the right to life. That's disappeared quickly hasn't it? Or you could run away and beg for protection from others. Who can say no. Where are your rights?
@33KV@ThrashPunkRacc@vladuhat999@nyaraVT If the murderer can't decide what rights I have, the state can't either. It's the public that decides the rights essentially by their common understanding of what these rights entail.
@33KV@ThrashPunkRacc@vladuhat999@nyaraVT The state doesn't decide it anymore than the murderer. If I'm killed by a random person I'm no less dead than if I'm killed by an agent of State. My right is violated in any of this cases and there's nothing to enforce anymore, since I'm dead
@33KV@ThrashPunkRacc@vladuhat999@nyaraVT If I don't have rights unless they are enforced, I don't have rights even when they are enforced. It's not a right that is enforced, just a will of an entity with sufficient power
@33KV@ThrashPunkRacc@vladuhat999@nyaraVT >you don't fight, you are shot
Yeah, I said that they can kill me and that may convince me to fight. It also may not convince me, what difference is to me who exactly shoots me dead.
You are saying that violation of rights is the same as no rights, but then it's not a violation
@33KV@ThrashPunkRacc@vladuhat999@nyaraVT You're saying that it's not a right, it's aways the power only. Power to enforce _rights_, but what is enforced if only power is meaningful? What stops you then from taking property of others, your lack of power only?
@33KV@ThrashPunkRacc@vladuhat999@nyaraVT Your definition means rights don't exist as a concept so it's not a meaningful definition. Like, if someone takes your property you're saying you don't have any right to your property. This word then means nothing
@33KV@ThrashPunkRacc@vladuhat999@nyaraVT Obviously it can't conscript me. It can kill me and it can imprison me, that's all. I can choose to fight in war if I fear death or imprisonment but they have to convince me
@Humsterr@ThrashPunkRacc@vladuhat999@nyaraVT The State does have that power. It can conscript you and send you to your certain death in war. It can imprison you and impose a death penalty. It can extra-judicially execute you. It can withhold life-saving medical intervention.
@33KV@ThrashPunkRacc@vladuhat999@nyaraVT If the State doesn't want most of its citizens fleeing or fighting it won't infringe on my rights. Sometimes the State doesn't care about that and has other means to control me, so we get States violating human rights
@33KV@ThrashPunkRacc@vladuhat999@nyaraVT No one, because no one can punish the State. It's just, again, means the State loses any power over me if it starts to infringe on my rights and I have a choice to flee or fight. So either political asylum or insurgency
@33KV@ThrashPunkRacc@vladuhat999@nyaraVT The State punishing people who infringe on my life is not done to protect my right to life, but to protect the State itself, because it would shatter if it allowed people to kill each other. The State itself is interested in it, it's not a contract that it may choose to break
@33KV@ThrashPunkRacc@vladuhat999@nyaraVT The state doesn't guarantee my rights, rather they exist as a limit to the State itself. Obviously they can't be seen as imposed by the State in this case, because self-imposed limits are not limiting
@NimeriaManson@EpenbTru@awagra34 Собственно, в литературе смешно про это пишут, что генетически европейцы и азиаты это скорее два разных подвида африканцев, чем какие-то отдельные от африканцев расы
@NimeriaManson@EpenbTru@awagra34
