@ElderGrizzly We’ll do exactly what Leeds did, draw 0-0 in the 1st leg, turn over a poor team 4-0 in the 2nd leg before losing 1-0 in the final

Thing is, I’d fancy us over 2 legs in the playoffs, as we aren’t normally shocking 2 games in a row.

@louorns Yeah we’ll definitely have opportunities, but we’ll need to be effective in central areas. Neil + Nunez in the team should help at least.
Can’t see Greaves or Walle-Egeli getting down the outside much tonight (our LB normally holds width when we play against a 343)

@g_neller It’s the perfect deal for us; 6 month loan, OOC in Summer if we want to keep him, can start next to + cover Matusiwa, promotion experience etc
Also a great fit for us as solid all-rounder + controls games better than any other CM we have

Interesting signing..
Signing a Top 6 quality Championship attacker for £3m who has good goalscoring potential at this level shouldn't be sniffed at.
Despite that, I do have a few concerns regarding how he fits into the team, which I'll delve into in this thread:

@g_neller Yeah, there’s definitely loads of scope for him to improve in that position because of his age, when he broke out as a player and former managers compared to McKenna.
Thought he looked promising on Saturday, some nice turns and drives with the ball

@ITFCAnalytics I think the key point you’ve made is when he last consistently played as a natural 10, Ainworth was his manager.
Can’t help but feel McKenna could get an extra level from him playing centrally.

Gives us something we don’t have in that role but at the same time he isn’t the complete fit that we need, Nunez has helped us control games in the middle a bit more than before. Even if he doesn’t start, he’ll be a great option off the bench though.

@ITFCAnalytics Nice analysis this & does lean towards my apprehension of him being a very good player but not a fit with what we need at present / would need in the PL. as you say, I feel the Nunez style of CAM has improved us & I don’t see Mehmeti playing that type of role.

Yeah we do miss that kind of player in there, obviously have worries about how involved in our play he will be but definitely gives us something that we don’t have there. Even if he doesn’t start he should be a great option off the bench for us.

@ITFCAnalytics Enjoyed this. Appreciate your work. The strengths I like are taking the ball on the turn, creating something out of nothing and getting beyond the 9. Things we miss in the 10(ish) role atm. Glad to see the work ethic off the ball too. KMc will have a plan I'm sure.. 🙏🏼

I will add that he can be very dangerous in transition, which will benefit him if we go up with the natural game state change.
Hopefully his game in the middle third can be developed; Mehmeti's generally been with defensive coaches focused on hitting teams in transition..

As for his scalability to the PL, I'm unsure. But for £3m, he doesn't need to. If he can play a role in us getting promoted then that's fine.
Feel like he may be lacking the PL level physicality when in duels, doesn't impact games enough + has poor ball retention.
