@MrSparkums @AreOhEssEyeEe 'Jew' appears in the later writings of the Old Testament, and throughout the New Testament. It describes people who are descendants of Judah.

@ImmutableXY @AreOhEssEyeEe Jewish is not a Biblical concept, more Talmudic. Most of the Israelites were in no way Jews, Moses for example. Again, translations, lies, deception.. Christ is an "Israelite", from several tribes including the nations/Goyim, like most of the Israelites.

I'm probably going to get some hate for saying this, but I don't care. Organized religion is one of the biggest cons ever pulled on humanity. I'm not talking about believing in God. I'm talking about following an organized religion. It's all lies. All of it.

@ImmutableXY @pr0fxavier @PragmaticMaemae @FarazPervaiz3 The Jews being, as zealous for their faith as they were, would certainly jump on the opportunity to deny a false Jewish Messiah, especially one that made divine claims about himself. Especially since the Jews were the first converts to this sect

@MrSparkums @AreOhEssEyeEe Yep there have been many local floods recorded at different times throughout history. As many local floods occur to this day. The Flood narrative is absurd nonsense, based on earlier myth. Humanity could not have emerged from two individuals. This is not how biology works.

@ImmutableXY @AreOhEssEyeEe There is evidence for massive floods in history, massive population collapse too, many. Global vs localized floods translation vs known region, in general etc. Adam was actually created on the 7th, Man on the 6th. More to it than most are aware of.

@Ron172892111531 @pr0fxavier @PragmaticMaemae @FarazPervaiz3 Resurrection claims were common at the time period. Jesus' resurrection claim wasn't special. Why would they bother? It would have been 'easy' to discredit all religions in their nascent stages, yet they survived. Holy books are written by believers, not by the sceptics.

@ImmutableXY @pr0fxavier @PragmaticMaemae @FarazPervaiz3 Because it would have been easy to discredit a sect that claims that a man rose from the dead. The reason I mentioned the gospel account was that Jesus' resurrection was being preaching very soon after the event. And as such it would have been easy to discredit

@MrSparkums @AreOhEssEyeEe Yes, because of these extra-Biblical sources I believe Jesus - the Jewish preacher - existed, had followers and was crucified. Supernatural (mythological, I would say) events were commonly written about at the time. Roman History is full of supernatural claims of healings etc.

@ImmutableXY @AreOhEssEyeEe Non Christian sources about Jesus' existence and supernatural events in some cases, Julius Africanus, Chronography, 18:1 for example. Science is a methodology which I completely believe in, not a belief system. But I am interested in any examples you might have.

@ImmutableXY @pr0fxavier @PragmaticMaemae @FarazPervaiz3 According to Acts 4 the Jews were very bothered by the disciples claims. They the had disciples arrested and flogged. Some they killed. Herod James executed to appease the Jews. They were hunted down by the Sanhedrin all the way to Damascus.

@Ron172892111531 @pr0fxavier @PragmaticMaemae @FarazPervaiz3 'According to the gospel' Yeah if you assume the gospels are true then you're a Christian. Why believe they're true? Christianity was a very niche religion for a long time, and certainly in the beginning. Why would the Jews even bother? Jesus wasn't their Messiah, and was dead.

@ImmutableXY @pr0fxavier @PragmaticMaemae @FarazPervaiz3 According to the gospel, Jesus appeared to his them for 40 days after his resurrection. After that they started spearing the news that he was alive in Jerusalem. The events of Acts 4 would have occurred within a month and a half. The Jews would have been able to produce his body

@MrSparkums @AreOhEssEyeEe True, and science contradicts Genesis, Adam and Eve, The Flood etc. Yes, I believe Jesus was a real person. 'extra Biblical secular material?' Unsure what you mean by this, sorry.

@ImmutableXY @AreOhEssEyeEe Definitely difficult to prove supernatural or miracles in ancient times. Do you believe that Jesus of Nazareth is/was a real person? Are you familiar with the extra Biblical secular material?

@AnnabellaBruzu1 @AreOhEssEyeEe Studying the Bible at Bible School helped me escape Christianity. It was a long and painful process. They call Seminary the 'Cemetery' because that is where Christians go to die.

@MrSparkums @AreOhEssEyeEe I agree there is some history in the Bible 👍 King David existed, same with Solomon etc. Many of the wars described in the Bible are confirmed by outside sources. The supernatural stories, not so much.

@Ron172892111531 @pr0fxavier @PragmaticMaemae @FarazPervaiz3 I agree Paul believed he experienced the risen Jesus. He doesn't mention a tomb. The empty tomb appears to be myth. The claims present in the Gospels developed over decades. Why would the Romans or Jews even bother with the nonsense claims of a few followers of Jesus at the time?

@ImmutableXY @pr0fxavier @PragmaticMaemae @FarazPervaiz3 Why mention Paul if he believed that Jesus rose from the dead and claimed to have seen him alive? How would mentioning a tomb supersede this claim? If Jesus was laid in a mass grave then why wasn't his body dug up to disprove his disciples claims that he was alive?

@AreOhEssEyeEe Jesus Christ is the only way, He is the portal into the divine. Organized religion has sadly watered down his message of pure unconditional love

@_Jason_G_ @MasterMaliq Nope, you have a story about an empty tomb. Jesus - a poor Jew - would have most likely been thrown into a mass grave. Paul - our earliest source - doesn't mention a tomb. And Joseph or Arimathea doesn't exist outside of the Gospels. The empty tomb appears to be myth building.

@AreOhEssEyeEe Religion doesn't really matter, just the truth. Though if you actually study it, the narrative of the Hebrew Bible is true, and Jesus Christ is the Truth the Way and the Life..

@ChaoticCunny @Void_star66 Jesus loves billions of people so much he watches them burn in a lake of fire. And calls that Heaven. I'd call watching people I love burn in a lake of fire Hell.

@frogmaster300 @Hellbender420 @RX_9999_2 People justify poor decisions, yes. Eating badly, breaking the law etc. We are very good at constructing reasons to justify poor behaviour. This is separate to whether people choose their beliefs. We are either convinced of propositions i.e. the earth is round, or not.

@ImmutableXY @Hellbender420 @RX_9999_2 I agree, but would say that people are often quite capable of telling themselves that what they know is true is not true... Untill they convince themselves of it. It is certainly not wise or healthy

@frogmaster300 @Hellbender420 @RX_9999_2 Yes, we can search for what is true. But we can't simply choose what we accept as true, or not. If we do choose what we believe, then please choose to believe the world is triangular, that your name is Mrs. Higglesbottom, and that your God doesn't exist. Can you do it?

@ImmutableXY @Hellbender420 @RX_9999_2 Dont intent to be. (Meant it occurs far more frequently, illogical or not) All faith is tested, you can believe, and ignore its precepts till you fall I disagree, we can search for what is true, and if found, choose to follow or not. Christianity is called to spread the news

@ImmutableXY @Hellbender420 @RX_9999_2 agreed "forming ones conscience": denying/avoiding the right thing knowing you are wrong is wrong (regardless of religion/lack of it) Doing good or bad is training oneself to do good or bad, each act reinforcing behavior, making you firmer in the path you are choosing.
