If you have a Hindu birth in this lifetime, it isn’t an accident. Please don’t fall for false ‘unity’ that paints us all as one, when we are as different as each leaf on a tree. Being born as a Hindu means you have a specific ancestral identity that others do not have. It also means that you have a specific responsibility towards dharma and also a faster pathway towards freeing yourself from samsara. Whilst anyone can access spirituality, Hindus should own and understand their distinct nature if they have even a modicum of respect for the sacrifices of their ancestors. Hindu indigenous people are born with a gotra, varna, jati, Kuladevata, Kuldevi and Sampradaya. Someone who is not born as a Hindu does not have any of these things. We have been conditioned into this wierd sense of colonial submission that foreigners are better than us, and we should give up everything we have to please the foreigners. This is called, self induced colonial slavery and lives as a ghost in the minds of the Hindus who have forgotten what they are born as. Let us free ourselves from these ghosts. I literally grew up in a hyper individualistic Western society - and maybe that’s why I’m even more assertive about who I am; and why I don’t cater to any stereotypes either. Hindus have an identity. Own it.
