Twenty-five years ago, Irving Police Officer Aubrey Hawkins #830 was tragically murdered while responding to a suspicious circumstances call at the Oshman’s Sporting Goods store. Seven escaped convicts were in the midst of committing an aggravated robbery and ambushed Officer Hawkins, killing him before he could exit his patrol car. It is hard to believe that 25 years have passed. The stories and memories shared about Aubrey make it feel like not so long ago. We will continue to honor his memory and legacy—in our hearts and throughout the halls of this department.
