Pro: new station Con: 450 million with a 200 million canopy and no connection to the red line. It's like we're trying to do transit wrong. We literally just built a station for ~80 million. Why didn't we just use the same plans? Would've been cheaper and saved time.

100 million a mile for new electrified rail?! If we could do that in Chicago we could electrify every mile of metra in the city for what we spent on the red line extension........ Or we could build a 60 miles of new heavy rail. The possibilities are endless.

Tomorrow I’m voting for my friend Isaiah White to be my county commissioner @Isaiah4Cook He’s a bonafide urbanist who will make the county better. The only pro-housing candidate on the ballot, also has a wealth of transit knowledge and knows what to fix. One of his competitors told me they would not use the county’s power to mandate bus lanes in my district. That person also hates bike lanes. The other wants to continue local control of zoning, which is an exclusionary discriminatory practice.

@chi_urbanist If we were able to build at the same cost as LA build rail we could build ~8 of those extensions every 6 billion capital plan.

A caravan of dirt bikes and motorcycles making more noise than 100 jet engines, 16 cars with modified mufflers so loud they shook my windows. In only 3 hours today. Time to take quality of life seriously. Sound cameras + strong enforcement are the answer. No partial measures.

And it won't be fixed until we elect people who are intent on building a system that's clean, safe, fast and frequent. I'll only appoint folks to the service boards who ride transit daily and will shake up these failing bureaucracies.

The @cta or NITA or whatever the stumblebums in charge want to call it will never come back until the rail service is consistently reliable. Trying it again tonight and it is way late and Uber would’ve been faster for $7 more. Not getting discretionary riders back until fixed.🤷‍♂️

We think far too small. It's just two homes. They also cost 500k a piece. That's a lot of money to build a single house. If we wanted to house people efficiently, there are plenty of apartments on the market in that neighborhood that go for 150k. 7 apts for the price of 2.

@chi_urbanist If they can take it apart in a few weeks, they should be able to build it back in less than four years. And for less than 400 million. - That's what extensions cost in other cities. transitcosts.com
