Everyone's up in arms over @elonmusk calling B-BBEE 'extremely racist'. He's not wrong. But over 20 years of data tells an even darker story. Unemployment up. Black unemployment even worse. Crime exploding. Rural internet crippled. Starlink blocked because Elon isn't Black enough. This is what happens when you put racial revenge over reality. ANC is starving its own people of safety, jobs, and tech, all to keep power. Full breakdown → nationalinterest.org/blog/techland/…

I'm not interested in South Africa just because it's heartbreaking to watch a nation with so much raw potential get hollowed out, though it is. I'm interested in South Africa because it's a warning of what happens when you replace merit with race, when grievance becomes policy, when forgiveness is skipped and revenge is dressed up as justice, and when you stop seeing individuals and start seeing groups. That's not a South African problem. That's a human one. And the West is not as far from it as it thinks.

@IuliaL27 I find it interesting how racists think. A black person ascending to a position of power and influence is always race based or DEI but if its a white person its merit based. I grew up under apartheid, do you know how broken our society was under those leaders until Mandela? Stop

@Adams7191isback Nowhere near the same level of what I saw in SA, but yes, especially in big cities and the coasts.

@Rightist_Injun Yes, I was just there in February, and I feel the same. The kindest, strongest, most innovative people. I was in actual shock about how clean, safe, and beautiful it was, and reminiscent of 1950s-60s America (or at least what I've seen in the movies🥲)

@IuliaL27 Oh cool you've been there? They seem like such a fascinating people. I hope they do well. I hate how much they're slandered, just like my countrymen.

@IuliaL27 It's a brutal reality over there. But it appears that they are going to turn into an African version of Atlas Shrugged. After the mass famines hit them maybe they can become a functioning society again.

@IuliaL27 @elonmusk Calm down. Elon is the last person to speak about South Africa, a country he knows little about despite having grown up here. None of what you claim is true.

@IuliaL27 @elonmusk I agree with most of what u are saying but I also do not think STARLINK single handedly will change our current situation as it's claimed. To be honest if this was only for business purposes than Elon would do his starlink business elsewhere if he is not happy with SA policies.

@IuliaL27 @elonmusk It's arguable whether B-BBEEE is racist. What cannot be argued is that the ANC's implementation is racist and criminal,

@IuliaL27 @wmwchris @elonmusk The ANC has realised that their time in control of the purse is coming to an end. So they have stepped up the "eating" from the coffers of the country. And the citizens of ZA is taking the punch on the chin.

I didn't blame BEE for genocide, although I'd love to hear arguments explaining why some of these attacks against white farmers involve prolonged torture, mutilation, dismemberment, rape, and so on, if the motive is theft. The fact that this is happening and that crime is a country-wide problem aren't mutually exclusive. What I blame BEE for is creating a policy environment that makes innovation and economic growth more difficult, making it hard to lift people up.

@IuliaL27 @elonmusk Most Anti-BEE commentators fail to mention this. Are there challenges, sure. Blaming BEE and a fictitious genocide which is actually a country wide crime problem in my opinion is pure bias, laziness and the peddling of a narrative. Food for thought.

Yes, all kinds of people on the streets from Johannesburg all the way to Cape Town. And the majority (all colors) expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs. Even people I didn’t expect to criticize the ANC did. However, open to arguments as to what the ANC has done right.
