You're missing the point. It’s not a religious slight, it’s a wake-up call. Moral superiority doesn't win wars; strength and practicality do. History doesn't favor the righteous over the powerful—unless the righteous are also powerful enough to survive. Durant himself deeply admired Christ’s influence on civilization, but as a historian, he knew that moral ideals don’t stop armies. His point is a historical reality check: righteousness alone isn't a shield against power.
