And understand this: it’s not all about wins and losses. Finding the right fit matters. A place where you align not only academically, but athletically—where your skills, development, and role match the program’s vision. Do your research. Ask questions. A position coach comes back from a spring contact trip and hits the recruiting meeting with a report on every school he visited. At most stops, it is a rundown of film, measurables, and what the high school coach said. But every now and then, he has something different to say. "The kid came up to me after the workout. Introduced himself. Asked about the offense. Looked me in the eye the whole time." Those kids end up higher on the board than their measurables should put them. Contact period is not a spectator sport. If a coach is at your school this week, go find him. Shake his hand. Be the kid he talks about when he gets back to the office.

Sat in a recruiting meeting once where the conversation about a kid lasted 45 seconds. His film was good. His measurables checked every box. His grades were fine. The position coach put his name up, two assistants said "I have heard he is a problem," and the head coach said move on. 45 seconds. That kid never knew why the offer he expected never came. He spent his whole senior year wondering what happened. Coaches are not just building rosters. They are building locker rooms. Every offer is a bet on who you are as a person, not just as a player. Act accordingly.

Outstanding weekend in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at the @PrepRedzone Sooner State Shootout. It was a privilege to connect with so many high-level coaches and organizations representing some of the most talented athletes in the region. The level of competition, preparation, and professionalism on display continues to raise the standard. Great to see two @CGSAllStar alumni @_TREZZYBOY and @CoachWhit05 making a strong impact in the coaching ranks and continuing to grow the game the right way. Proud of the work they’re doing. Major credit to @starter205 for leading the event as site manager and ensuring everything ran at a championship level. Looking forward to building more relationships and connecting with additional coaches and 7v7 programs at our upcoming events.

Coaches: Still looking for a specialist with a high ceiling? @Zevvelyn_B is a relentless worker, highly coachable, and a great locker room presence. Big leg with the hang time to match. Looking for an opportunity to keep playing.

This is a great argument for G5 schools belonging in the playoffs. It doesn’t mean G5 schools will win every or even most matches in the playoffs, but it does show that culture and coaching are far more important than stars. It would be a disservice to college football to make the playoffs only for the teams with the most stars.
