Remembering the Rebbetzin
Today marks the passing of the Rebbe's wife, Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson, on the 22nd of Shevat, February 10, 1988.
Known for her modesty and wisdom, she kept away from the spotlight and the public eye, supporting her husband's work from behind the scenes.
In the days and weeks immediately after her passing, it became clear just how vital her presence had been to her husband’s life work.
Today, thousands around the world carry her name, keeping her mission and dedicated spirit alive.
Here, her longtime attendant visits the Rebbe after her passing.

How A Young Man Found a Confidence Boost
Struggling with a stutter, a young boy turned to the Rebbe for guidance. What he walked away with was a life-changing perspective: God, who fills the entire Universe, cares about you. What you do matters to Him. When you truly focus on this truth, it gives you confidence. Your life carries G-d-given meaning — far beyond your own sense of self-worth. And with that confidence, everything changes.

Small Moves, Radical Changes
A Tu B'Shevat Lesson
Today is the 15th of Shevat - Tu B'Shevat,
the New Year for Trees.
While we celebrate trees and their fruits,
this holiday has a lot to do with us humans.
The Torah compares a human being to a tree:
"Man is like a tree of the field."
When a seed is first planted,
every small act of care matters.
Even what seems insignificant
can shape how the tree will grow for years to come.
The same is true with children.
A short moment of attention,
a small effort that feels barely noticeable,
can later shape a child’s values and daily behavior in significant ways.
That’s why no effort in education is ever wasted.
What’s at stake isn’t a single moment,
but the long-term growth of the person who will emerge.

A day that changed the Jewish world
Today is the 10th of Shevat,
the day the Lubavitcher Rebbe assumed leadership of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement,
ushering in a new era for Jewish life in America,
and around the world.
In the shadow of the Holocaust, a broken and searching generation looked for direction, hope, and meaning.
In his first address as the new Rebbe, he set forth the mission, the next step forward:
To transform the world into a garden,
a beautiful place filled with the light and warmth of Judaism.
Every good deed we do, every word of Torah, every act of kindness brings that reality one step closer.
And its up to us:
Each of us, in our own lives, has the power to make the world brighter —
and together, to bring the ultimate good:
a fully good and Godly world, may it come today.
How has the Rebbe impacted your life?

JEM extends heartfelt condolences to our director, Rabbi Elkanah Shmotkin, and his wife Nechama on the passing of Nechama’s mother, Mrs. Shaindel Zaklikovsky. A Chabad emissary in Oak Park, Michigan, she was known for her generous, open home and took great pride in the work and mission of JEM.
May Hashem grant comfort and strength to the Zaklikovsky and Shmotkin families, and may Mrs. Zaklikovsky’s memory continue to be a source of inspiration.

Facing Challenges? Remember This!
“In my distress, I call out to God and He answers me.” — King David, Psalms 120
Life can bring hardship and uncertainty.
In those moments, it’s easy to feel alone or afraid.
But there is a God — One who sees, hears, and cares for each of us.
When you feel overwhelmed, don’t stay silent.
Call out to Him. He will answer.

They were preparing to visit Jewish communities in three countries: Cuba, Colombia, and Venezuela.
Concerned about the growing political upheaval in Cuba, Rabbi Moshe Herson—then a young yeshiva student—asked the Lubavitcher Rebbe for a blessing before departing.
Instead of focusing on Cuba, the Rebbe asked a surprising question:
“Why are you visiting only one city in Venezuela?”
But no matter what they tried, the flight just wasn’t able to be changed.
But God had other plans…

The Rescue of 2,000 Jewish Children from Iran | A True Story
As unrest and uncertainty grip Iran once again, this video looks back at a daring operation to save Iranian Jews after the Iranian Revolution.
In the aftermath of Ayatollah Khomeini’s rise to power, Iran’s Jewish community faced growing danger, uncertainty, and persecution.
This video tells the true story of how approximately 2,000 Jewish children were evacuated from Iran in the years following the fall of the Shah.
With the guidance and support of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, a small group of young rabbis worked to secure visas, arrange transportation, and create the infrastructure needed to absorb the children in the United States. Against all odds, thousands of Iranian Jewish children were able to leave Iran and begin new lives in safety.
This is a true story of dedication, responsibility, and leadership during a moment of crisis.
