Trump blockades all shipping from the Persian Gulf stopping our Gulf allies from exporting oil, LNG, fertilizer, and general cargo imports. This creates a catastrophe for our allies and a calamity for global economy. Trump sees this as clever.

The "Fukushima hangover" is over. Global policy has pivoted from phase-outs to a nuclear renaissance for carbon-free baseload power. With spot prices hitting $100/lb, $ASX uranium plays are primed for a structural rerating. ☢️📈 #Uranium #EnergySecurity

If the US leaves NATO European nations must, as Klaas correctly says, spend at least 75% more on defence... It also means: 1) universal conscription 2) moving 10,000 of troops permanently to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Poland. 3) creating European military commands
Klaas Meijer@klaasm67

Are the people on this platform who claim that NATO would be better off without the US also willing to increase their own countries’ defence budgets by another 50–75%?

@Mpolymer Once Trump negotiated withdrawal, Afghans switched sides. This is tribal society works. There was never clean exit to be had, ever. DO not forget GWB and Cheney letting OBL walk out of Tora Bora and refusing SOF ask for 10th Mountain and Airborne to block.

Many of us in the national security world who were politically aligned with the Democrats nonetheless offered withering criticism of the Biden administration’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. FFS, I even went on Fox News to howl about this. It was a disgrace. I pulled no punches. Similarly, I was very forceful in pressing the Biden team to provide more to Ukraine – and was extremely critical in public. On MSNBC even when I knew the White House was watching. And now it comes to the Trump aligned national security world… …What is going to be rather amusing is those foreign policy hands on the right who are aligned with the Trump administration will be fundamentally unable to criticize him for this Iran mess. It’s already happening. Think about that as you read their defense of the horrible terms of this cease fire agreement. The cult has a long reach.

Stop entertaining the notion that Trump would take the US out of NATO. Firstly it would require congressional action. Second, and most importantly, Putin would never allow Trump do this, as paralyzing the organization from within is much more valuable. A new "NATO" without the US, but with its own massive arms manufacturing capabilities, and with Ukraine at the core of it – now that is an idea worth pursuing.

Every US president chose diplomacy over force, waited too long, and North Korea now has 50 nuclear warheads and ICBMs that can reach the continental US that mistake with Iran by learning North Korea lesson. Trump decided not to repeat that mistake with Iran, writes WSJ. 1/

The Pentagon has claimed that lower Iran missile count = degraded command & control, but I’m not convinced. Iran’s ability to coordinate combined-arms assaults on bases like Prince Sultan in Saudi Arabia, which included missiles and drones, suggests rumors of command & control demise are greatly exaggerated. Missiles & drones move at wildly different speeds and could be launched from far-apart locations. The fact Iran can converge them on a single objective is a sign of sophisticated C&C. @ka_grieco has done tons of analysis that suggests the lower firing count reflects a selective targeting marathon strategy, rather than C&C difficulty or lowered overall capacity.

The US wasted: ~1,000 Tomahawks Over 1,000 JASSM 2,400 Patriot interceptors More than half all US THAAD interceptors Got the US into a war they can’t get out of For what? No regime change, the Nuclear program was already destroyed in June 2025, Iran is still launching ballistic missiles and Shaheds. All of this wasted for what, why the main threats Russia and China still remain, and are not weakened, only funding Iran more. So what’s bombing another 1-2 months going to do? Nothing, still regime change won’t happen, more munitions will be wasted.

The loss of an F-15E is major news because it’s so rare. After ~5 weeks and ~13,000 sorties, this is the first manned U.S. combat aircraft lost to enemy fire over Iran. For context: the U.S. lost 28 fixed-wing aircraft to Iraqi air defenses during Desert Storm.

Even if you did not support Trumps decision to launch of war of choice against Iran (like me), restricting the use of US airbases in NATO countries imprudently damages NATO unity. Yes, Trumps threats to invade/annex NATO countries does too. But 2 wrongs don’t make a right.

Kellogg: NATO may need to be redrawn with countries willing to fight, like Japan, Australia, Germany, Poland, and Ukraine, which has proven to be a good ally. Under Article 13, the US could leave NATO with one year’s notice if the alliance no longer works. 1/

As a European, I am not afraid that the USA will leave NATO. We already know that they do not have good intentions to Europe and that we, therefore, have to build our defence to be able to fight without the Americans. We are well on our way and it will happen a lot faster if the USA leaves NATO officially. Russia is too weak and small to be a long term threat to Europe. They simple can not match what we can produce. As long as we keep Ukraine from falling, Russia is also not a threat to us in the short term. So if the USA leaves NATO, it is simple for us: Keep Ukraine from falling at all costs and build up European defence and weapon production as fast as humanly possible. We can and we will do that and Europe will be absolutely fine and safe.
