Sir, have you read "Surrender at Dacca: Birth of a Nation" by Lt Gen Jack Farj Rafael Jacob?
You'll get a slightly different impression--arguably, Sam Maneckshaw was much better at managing his British bosses, Indian politicians & the media than he was a soldier or general.
