There’s been a lot of conspiracy theories lately claiming this little screw on gas pumps is some kind of scam to overcharge customers. This guy takes one apart and explains exactly what it’s for and what happens if it’s missing.

@IndianaJoe777 @LaurenWitzkeDE I work at a gas station. The screw scam makes no sense. Once you put the nozzle back it ends the transaction. For years the repair guys been using screws to stops the flapper swinging out too much because it’s broken and he doesn’t have the part on truck. It’s a temporary fix

Indian businesses are always scamming, ESPECIALLY gas stations. Whether it's card skimming, watering down the gas, or now, putting a screw on the pump’s nosel cradle to save a few dollars, it's always some kind of scam, and as usual, THEY ALL ARE IN ON IT!

@Rothmus I had holes in my shirts and it was always in the same spot. When I was leaning on this metal sign at work and it snag my shirt. I had leaning on it for years. When I stopped leaning on it I never got another hole.
