Just when you think you’ve seen what HS football has to offer, you go spot stats for a State championship game that saw the losing team score 41 and get beat by more than that number. Crazy day in Durham at the NCHSAA Championships! One that will go down in the history books!

That's not wrong in and of itself. However, with a monumental change like 8 classifications, the membership needed to see options on playoffs, conf. alignment, and have a real in-depth conversation about how things will work to provide as fair & equitable opportunity as possible.

Moving to 8 Classifications was always going to require a full paradigm shift. That did not happen in the way this process is being carried out. It is being done the same way it always has been done, and with mostly the same idea that it has been done in the past.

HSOT INSIDER: My main takeaway from the realignment proposal is this: I have big concerns about the makeup of the proposed conferences, but I can't be sure because we don't have some critical information -- like how the playoffs will work. highschoolot.com/story/stevens-…

@JimBowdenGM If they can’t figure it out in Florida, they should share their Triple A park in Durham. Any Triple A games that coincide with a Rays homestand could move to USA Baseball Complex a short distance away in Cary. That would be a pretty workable solution IMO.

Hurricane Milton damage to the roof at Tropicana Field is a bigger deal than most understand. It would cost 9 figures to replace and moving into new park in a few years doesn't make sense. #Rays can't play there with no draining system for rain. Where will they play in 2025?

I felt the love last night being back in the game. It was humbling to me for all my media friends to welcome me back. Thank you! Grateful to be back. It’s football season so let’s get to it.

Did we really just watch a pair of octogenarians running for President of the US argue on national television about their golf games? God save the republic.

We quite literally used to do this (or a semblance of it). It’s called pre-determined brackets. People hated it so much that they wanted seeding and everything that comes with it, including taking days to find out if you are in.
This Guy@coachball2709

@NickStevensHSOT Oh yeah I remember that. I know it won't happen but make every conference play a conference tournament & that's your first "round" of playoffs. The conference champ and runner up get seeded and bracketed to finish the playoff. Play tournament M-W, seed Friday, play next game Tue

This is the most likely scenario (if FSU survives tonight in Charlotte). Just watching the FSU offense against a team that got boat-raced last week by Kentucky is enough to make that case pretty clear.
Gary Parrish@GaryParrishCBS

Obviously, we'll see. But it's not hard to envision even a 13-0 Florida State team now getting left out of the playoff in favor of: 1. Michigan 2. Washington 3. Texas 4. Alabama (The committee would simply say FSU without its starting QB isn't one of the "four best teams.")

God save us from clowns who think you can get to D-1 without having D-1 talent. You can take your 5.0 40 and your 5’10 frame and work til the cows come home. They aren’t going to look at you, much less give you a scholarship. Quit feeding kids BS. Everybody isn’t D-1. It’s ok

@FournierCoach @JMBpreps I mean, no lies. I distinctly remember broadcasting a regional & saying “OMG, Dexter Lawrence just ate a man!” As he shoved the guard on to the mesh pt. of read opt. rather than shucking the G, he wrapped him & the RB up to make the solo tackle. He has always been beast mode.

@JMBpreps False. He would have pushed the center back 10 yards and through the QB 😂

This really pokes a hole through the "NCHSAA endowment ($15 mil that could be used) is big enough to help athletic facilities across the state" theory. This was $62 million and, although helpful, it didn't come close to helping the entire state twitter.com/NickStevensHSO…
Nick Stevens@NickStevensHS

Some NC high schools will be getting upgrades to their athletic facilities. The new state budget has at least $62.8 million earmarked for high school athletics facility upgrades. 18 districts received money, ranging from $100k to $14.5 million. Story: highschoolot.com/story/turf-fie…
