Verstappen retiring at the peak of his powers bc he's mad at the regulations would be embarrassing for him and nobody else. He's pouting. Get over it. He spent years winning every race and he's gonna quit the moment things get difficult? His fault.

It's the second game of the season and I still believe in this team, but my goodness this is a pathetic first couple games from the Royals offense. All the momentum from the WBC didn't last long. Also doesn't help that anytime we hit the ball hard, it finds a glove.

In '25 Ragans was in the 100th percentile in SO%, 95th percentile in whiff%, had an xERA of 2.67 which was 96th percentile, a .187 xBA which was 97th percentile, and a 1.18 WHIP which was about where he was in '24. He's an elite level guy. I'm glad they didn't trade him.

@JasonHeffernon Wonder what a framework around a Ragans deal would have looked like. Is KC better with Duran than Ragans? They might be, if the rotation holds up from a health perspective

@ryan_landreth Royals rotation is built on Wacha and Lugo who are old, Bubic coming off of an injury, and Cameron who tops our at 94 MPH as a lefty. Ragans was hurt, sure, but he was a Cy Young finalist 2 years ago and his pitch profile is elite. The Royals need him.

OFs with a 4+ WAR in 2025:
Judge, Carroll, Soto, JRod, PCA, Springer, Buxton, Belli, Tucker, Pages, Langford.
Duran was a 3.9 and the Royals tried but Boston wanted the best pitcher in our entire Org for him. Find an avenue to acquiring one of those other guys and I'll concede

@JasonHeffernon By same roster I meant same lineup. I hope you’re right. I just think they need a 4 WAR outfielder to really take that next step. I get that they don’t grow on trees but they haven’t had one in a long time

@JasonHeffernon There were plenty of reports that the Royals weren’t ok doing Bubic for Duran, weren’t there? That they wanted more? I could jut be remembering wrong but I thought KC was the one who balked first

@ryan_landreth If the Royals could've actually gotten Duran for Bubic they would've immediately slammed accept. Boston was never doing that. They wanted Ragans all off-season.

@ryan_landreth Find me the proof that they could've had him for Bubic. In what world is that the truth bc every report I saw in the off-season said that Boston only wanted Ragans for him, if not Ragans+. Bubic for Duran was a fallacy that was never close to happening.

@JasonHeffernon They’re 4 WAR guys. They’re not going to be easy to acquire. But a little less than half the teams in baseball have one and I think this team needs one to truly be a contender. They’ve had a lot of high picks over the years and their system is stacked with pitchers. Gotta get 1.

Lower it to 3+ WAR and you get this group:
Duran, Raffaela, Frelick, Acuna, Soderstrom, Wood, Bader, Kwan, Grisham, Merrill, Nimmo, Laureano.
So some guys we also couldn't trade for/afford, or old guys you're praying will replicate another 3 WAR season. Not a lot of options.

@ryan_landreth Well it hasn't happened for a long time bc it's hard to find 4 WAR outfielders. Especially with the Royals payroll and lack of minor league depth to trade the Royals top end of the lineup can carry us to where we need to go if one or two of the guys 5-9 can be above average.

So the Royals did virtually nothing to change an offense that was bottom-third in the AL in OBP, slugging, and runs, and dead last in home runs, and now they open up this year with a goose egg. Were we, uh, expecting it to be different?

@ryan_landreth One game in and you can already see the approach topto bottom in the lineup being so much better than last years. Faced a really great pitcher and we had good ABs all night. Just didn't see the results/luck fall our way bc the Braves played great defense. There's 161 games left.

@ryan_landreth "same roster as last year" except all of our pitchers are healthy. Our top 2 in the lineup rivals almost any non LAD top 2 in the game. Bullpen is vastly improved. Jensen/Jac are going to be better. Collins was a ROTY finalist last season. I do think they'll be better, yes.

I've never seen a baseball team's fans absolutely collapse after one game quite like Royals fans are collapsing right now. Top 5 in ROTY voting last year and you've seen one game from him in a Royals uniform and he's a failure already. Unreal stuff going on on this website.
