The average conservative activist or influencer doesn’t ask “What is my role is in this long-term collective struggle?” They ask “What maximizes my social standing right now?” For all the talk of respecting hierarchy on the Right, the modern Right is one of the least hierarchical movements in history. There is no unified goal, no cohesive effort, no great mass of people willing to form themselves into a single boxing glove because all of us want to be the boxer and none of us can agree on where the punches should be thrown. The only thing that defines “the Right” is that all of us stand in opposition to Left. That’s it. And that’s just not enough to actually achieve anything. Think about how many factions in Russia were defined by simply “not being a Bolshevik” in 1918. Monarchists, Republicans, Ukrainian secessionists, even other Socialists. They all hated each other almost as much as they hated the Bolsheviks. Which is why all of them were ultimately destroyed.

We don't have a better friend in the world to be standing alongside than Ukraine. We must have their backs like they have ours right now. 🇺🇸🇺🇦

One of the biggest problems in society today is that we no longer share a common set of basic facts. Without that, you cannot have a healthy discourse, or really any discourse at all. Too many people either do not know basic facts or have been led to believe things that simply are not true. In real life, almost no one knows that the Russia collusion plot was cooked up by the Clinton campaign, or that there is a transcript proving Flynn did not lie, or that the Ukraine impeachment scam began the morning after Mueller’s train wreck testimony because they needed a new hoax, or that Fauci demonstrably sent money and technology to the Wuhan lab for them to create deadly coronaviruses. The list goes on and on. And yet, in polite society, you are still treated like a crank for knowing these things rather than repeating the approved version of events. That is a very big problem. So until there is at least some agreement on basic, provable facts, there is no real point in debating anything. If the inputs are garbage, the outputs will be too.

The surreal thing about this for me is that I don't even understand what their argument was in their own terms.

I see the Star Wreck 90210 crowd are still not ok. You told people not to watch it because today's Trek is for the enlightened. Then you get mad because the ratings sucked. Then you get mad at folks like me who did watch it but pointed out lazy writing dumb shortcuts and plot holes DS9 could fit through. Tell the higher ups the following: Stop trying to make every episode a visual masterpiece and focus on story and character development.
