@TheresaLubowitz They should have never been undone. This does nothing to close the opportunity gap.

This was always going to happen. Tuition freezes don't work because they eventually put too much pressure on the system and they get lifted, dramatically spiking the cost of school for students, often mid-study. Students would have been better supported by Wynne-era grants.
Colin D'Mello | Global News@ColinDMello

BREAKING: The ford government is lifting the long-standing tuition freeze for college and university students, as part of its post secondary funding changes: • Tuition: 2% increase per year for 3 years, then rate of 2% or 3-year inflation average • PSE funding: $1.6 B per year, above the base $5.4 B • OSAP: max 25% as a grant, minimum 75% as a loan (currently it’s 85% grant max 15% loan min) #onpoli

@Beth_Levy66 Playfair is a disaster, beyond shovelling into the street (I don’t get my neighbourhood) people have shovelled their driveways into the sidewalks…I don’t get it. Kids walking on the road to school.

It is ridiculous that Toronto still can’t figure out transit for the marathon…let’s run extra busses down Yonge St but subway??? Yah, you’re outta luck. 30k runners plus volunteers, plus people just coming to cheer/support. #ttc #WaterfrontMarathon

Canada Post is a national service, not a private business. We should discuss it as such. But that would mean recognizing that ending door delivery unequally impacts seniors, people with disabilities, and those in rural communities.
Alex Boykowich@ABCommunist

They constantly talk about how much money Canada Post is "losing", but they never say that the military or the police are "losing" money. In fact they talk about military spending as if it makes money.

@TheresaLubowitz If we want change than we have to talk about it. Some of these names are like mythical creatures who lurk in dark corners. Real renewal means new voices, new perspectives and new campaign tactics. Plus…yes…kindness…we need to focus on that more.

There's a lot of talk about which organizers shouldn't be invited to campaign for the party again (a leadership race means they will all land somewhere new anyway). But win/loss records impact core party strength less than professionalism, kindness, and mentorship in key roles.

The Ontario liberal party at the best of times is a vessel of (for the most part) progressive policy. At the worst of times, the sense of entitlement among its party insiders rears its head, with little regard for putting party or policy above self-interest.
Barbara Patrocinio@BarbaraPatroci

Bonnie says "This is not the number I wanted, but it is not the finish line for me," she said. "A leadership review right now will do more harm than good." #onpoli

@NokhaDakroub Totally, and not getting a caucus endorsement…bad…not talking to the media…worse…what happened to grace? Party first? The greater good?

@Jennifer_Arp I thought it would be around 65% and even that wasn’t enough. But 57% is a joke. And think about all the liberals who didn’t even bother participating. This is the result of her organizers organizing very hard. I bet organically it’s more like 20%.

@NokhaDakroub I think there was a general assumption that she would pass it because of the ex-officio vote, I thought she would have been sitting around the 70% mark. This result is damming, Libs cannot win an election or rebuild with her as leader.

His goal is to put the public education system on life support to funnel students and their parents' incomes towards PC donors in private education. This playbook is 30 years old.
Paul Calandra@PaulCalandra

I have been clear: the current school board governance structure is based on an outdated system that needs to be modernized. Our focus is to provide students with better outcomes and certainty, and we are looking to finalize governance changes as soon as possible.

All of this. Are we just numb to this government now? Do we think they’re just going to do it anyway no matter what we say? Trustees are the oldest elected institution in the province…we’re just going to sit back and let this government eliminate them? #onpoli

No trustees means no watchdogs. Who will challenge privatization? Who will speak truth when government pushes classroom plans with no evidence? Call the Premier 416-325-1941 #KeepTrustees #onted #Ontario

Libs need to take a hard why OLP elected 2 ldrs in a row who failed to win their own seats. That points to the broken internal democracy where EDAs captured and shut down by select few, direct nom appointments promised in exchange for leadership support and new members shut out.
Nathaniel Arfin@ArfinNathaniel

The Ontario Liberal party hasn't done the work to truly build our capacity or acknowledge the mistakes that held us back in 2018 and 2022. We need to grow this party. That starts with change at the top.

@TheresaLubowitz I had a physio appointment on St Clair this afternoon and drove because it’s faster, I have a privilege of having a car and because parking on the side streets is free. I live 2 mins from Dufferin. This whole thing is disappointing.

The revised plan eliminates priority lanes supposedly for small businesses yet they are few and far between after St. Clair as you move up Bathurst to Eglinton. (Toronto Star also spelled St. Clair wrong which makes sense given the poor news coverage we get of these issues.)
HotPopRobot: Tech4Good Ocean-Space-Earth-Society@wonrobot

@ttcriders Absolutely disappointing. When will the elected Progressive Councillors and Mayor @progresstoronto start showing courage in using their political capital to make our city better. We are failing on #sixplexes #bikelanes #shelters and now even #buslanes.
