We stood together today, as we do every week, as we have done for more than two years, at our 117th hostage vigil, calling for the return of our final warrior, Ran Gvili. On October 7th 2023, Ran did not think of himself. Despite having a broken shoulder and awaiting surgery, when he heard of the massacres and the unspeakable atrocities taking place, he did not hesitate. Without a second thought, he got on his motorbike and rode straight into the heart of the chaos to save others. Ran went to the Nova Festival,where he helped many people escape and saved countless lives. From there, he continued on to Kibbutz Alumim. There, he stood his ground and fought back, eliminating fourteen terrorists who intended to continue their massacre. By doing so, he saved many more lives and is known as Ran Gvili, Defender of Alumim, Warrior of Alumim, Shield of Alumim. He was the first to run in to defend and heartbreakingly, he is the last still waiting to come home. His bravery is beyond measure, beyond words. Yet we are still waiting for the return of his body, cruelly held as a bargaining chip by the evil Hamas terrorists. Today, we also mourned and remembered the thousands of brave and courageous Iranian people who have been slaughtered on the streets by an Islamic regime. Their courage reminds us of Ran, people who, without thought for their own safety, run toward protecting others and toward resisting Islamic terrorism taking their freedoms. We heard today from one of our regular attendees, a Persian Jew, who shared her family’s story. When the Islamic regime took power, her family was forced to flee to England. She told us how members of her family and many friends, were forced to convert to Islam at the point of a sword. To survive, they lived double lives, outwardly appearing to follow the Quran, buying halal meat in public, only to return home, slip out the back door, throw that meat to the dogs and obtain kosher meat from an underground kosher butcher.Outwardly Muslim to survive, inwardly and faithfully Jewish. The Anti Israel contingent have been asking why the Israeli flag has been flying alongside the real flag of Iran with it’s lion and sun decoration, at all the recent marches for a free Iran and there are two reasons for this. Firstly, Israel and Iran have a biblical connection. Cyrus the Great, King of Persia, played a crucial role in the rebuilding of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. After conquering Babylon in 539 BCE, Cyrus issued a decree allowing the Jewish people to return to their homeland and rebuild the Temple that had been destroyed. He not only granted permission but also provided protection, finances and support for the project. While the Temple was completed later, during the reign of King Darius, it was Cyrus’s decree that made the rebuilding of the Second Temple possible. Israel also consistently faces threats from the puppets of Iran. The Houthis, Hezbollah and Hamas. Both countries are fighting for freedom, human rights and democracy against Islamic death cults. The bigger question should be, why do you not see the Palestine flag at the Iran marches? If you march against ‘oppression’ why do you not march for Iranians. (Answer: they dont really care. Not about women, not about human rights. Their outrage only exists to demonise Israel. If Jews are not involved, they just dont care. Pantomime humanitarianism. Faux moral outrage. Today we remembered all those butchered in the streets of Iran simply for calling for freedom. Just as we pray for the return of Ran Gvili to be laid to rest in the Holy Land and for his parents to finally have a place to grieve, we also pray for the brave people of Iran. We pray that they will one day overthrow this Islamic terrorist regime and that their country will once again become the peaceful, free, vibrant, fashionable, productive nation it once was. May justice overcome evil. And may all those who fought for life, freedom and humanity be a blessing eternally.
