His shoes were custom-made and were equivalent to a US size 37AA. Each shoe was nearly 18 inches long.
His ring size was a 25, compared to the average men’s ring size of 10.
Despite his towering height, he was known for his mild manner and intelligence, even studying law before his health deteriorated.
He died at just 22 years old due to an infected leg brace irritating his ankle, leading to an infection he could not fight off.

Robert Wadlow, the tallest individual ever documented in human history, stood at an astounding height of 8 feet 11.1 inches (2.72 meters) when he was last measured on June 27, 1940. His remarkable growth raised concerns from an early age, as at just 6 months old, he weighed an unusual 30 pounds (13 kg). This exceptional growth rate continued until 1929, shortly before his 12th birthday, when doctors discovered his overactive pituitary gland, which was producing excessive growth hormones.
This gland's overproduction was the root cause of Wadlow's remarkable stature. To accommodate his extraordinary height, a specially designed desk was created for him during his elementary school years. Wadlow embarked on a tour across the United States as part of the Ringling Bros. Circus, showcasing not only his towering height but also his remarkably large hands, measuring 12.75 inches (32.3 cm) from the wrist to the tip of his middle finger.
By the age of nine, he displayed his incredible strength by carrying his 1.8-meter-tall, 77 kg father. Due to his immense size, he relied on leg braces and a walking stick for mobility. Unfortunately, in 1940, an injury from one of his leg braces led to a blister that became infected and resisted treatment. Despite being hospitalized, his condition deteriorated, and on July 15, 1940, at approximately 1:30 am, Robert Wadlow passed away. His extraordinary size was evident even in his burial, as it took 12 men to carry his half-ton coffin.
