I created this Amazon list for anyone interested in Catholicism. These are mostly introductory ones I think give a good overview of the faith, with some deeper dives as well. Amazon messes up the order, so don’t expect them to be in any kind of order. amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls…

The degree to which early Protestant leaders accepted the perpetual virginity of Mary doesn’t really matter. Luther did accept it, Calvin was at most agnostic. There was still quite a bit of Catholic inertia, especially in Luther. It doesn’t represent a higher view of Mary either, as the perpetual virginity of Mary diminishes and denigrates a holy married woman by claiming she closed her marriage to life and wasn’t eager to give fully to her husband. For a married woman to be anything other than great in bed is a character defect, and is inconsistent with holiness. The idea also pushes a point of view attractive to foolish women and pious but homosexual men. So what changed? Protestant leadership is rarely celibate and less likely to be homosexual.

Luther & Calvin both upheld Mary as Theotokos and affirmed her perpetual virginity. Luther even spoke of her sinlessness. If the Reformers held a higher Marian view than many Protestants today… what changed… and why?

@NewAntiquarian_ @Aaronaeus So your “logic” is that Joseph, a 1st century Jew visited by an angel and who wouldn’t have dreamed of waltzing into the Holy of Holies in the Temple, had a desire to enter carnally the woman who had just miraculously bore the Son of God? You realize that besides nobody in the 1/

@RaithRoguestar @Protestia To be fair to your question , biblically there are no ‘mortal’ sins it’s a letter invention of Catholic dogma

@mvenuti1980 @Protestia @RaithRoguestar True, but we don’t know what has transpired between her & her confessor keeping CCC 1310 in mind. This is a matter between her & her bishop, just like pro-abortionists Biden & Pelosi. I hope they’re all properly disposed for the sake of their souls, but it’s not my call.

I'm going to side with Mr. Protestant here. It's a common rule among Catholics, Protestants, and Orthodox that notorious public sinners are not to approach the altar lest they damn themselves. Publicly crucifying a widow with your words, money, and power is a textbook example of notorious and public sin. Further, someone in a state of mortal sin does not receive the grace of the sacrament, even if they receive the externals.

@JohnMB69 @Sachinettiyil They stated it in their official video. Look it up! Plus, this was in Libya and if you followed the news around 2015 you would know that lots of christians lived under their rule and had safety. Ps: I myself also consider ISIS extremely violent and by far the biggest terrorists.

@Brosephos Interesting sacrilege. I do hope he’s prepared to explain it on Judgment Day. To paraphrase St. Thomas More, echoing Scripture, in A Man for All Seasons: “Why Richard, it profits a man nothing to give his soul for the whole world. But to be based?” 🙄

Hearing what sounds like an Evangelical song on this video, it sickens me that there are enough of them that would dismiss these holy martyrs as unsaved idolaters. I hear this crap from them on X frequently. Kudos to this poster though.

@Sachinettiyil The Coptic church imprisoned 2 women that reverted to Islam from christianity in the desert so ISIS opened a negotiation talk to exchange those 21 men for those 2 women but the church refused and EXECUTED them so ISIS did the same. 🇪🇬 x 🏴
