During the height of the Syrian conflict, Turkey housed the largest population of Syrian refugees in the world (3.2 million), followed by Lebanon (1.5 million) and Jordan (620,900), not to mention Iraq and Egypt also hosted sizable refugee populations. Here in Turkey, we also have the largest Uyghur diaspora outside of Central Asia, with Turkey becoming a safe haven for persecuted Uyghurs. Although majority Christian, Turkey has also become a place of refuge for displaced Ukrainians and Russians escaping the war. But of course, basic facts do not serve the bigoted agenda these people are trying to push.

Difficult to overstate what a disgustingly deranged and bigoted individual Cleese has become, tweeting this bile and these lies the day after an attack on a mosque. Not sure I can ever watch Monty Python again in the same way.

Unfortunately, the problem is not Starmer or Labour. The quality of UK politicians is very low, and they are incentivised to look after themselves.

No more racist and Islamophobic Unite The Kingdom marches should be allowed to take place in this country. Enough of appeasing these hardcore dangerous extremists. A clear message should be sent out that their rhetoric and actions are unacceptable in a multicultural society with hate speech laws.
