One player gets elected to the Hall of Fame, the others never do. Who gets the call? 1. Barry Bonds 2. Pete Rose 3. Shoeless Joe Jackson 4. Roger Clemens 5. Lou Whitaker 6. Curt Schilling 7. Mark McGwire 8. Sammy Sosa 9. Kenny Lofton 10. Write in a player

Still one of the best pitching performances I have ever seen And the fact that it was his first postseason game makes it more special

@eaner0919 Man, I thought he had no chance after the knockdowns. What amazing guts to stay in there and fight like he did in the second half of that bout.

@smod4real Use of a hyphen that should be an em-dash. Yup, you’re human.

Purposefully flouting rules of grammar and punctuation is now become necessary to authenticate your writing - i.e. to establish that it was not written by AI.

Also, @AmericanGwyn is a great writer. Dog On The Cross is one of the best collections of contemporary fiction I've read. This is the kind of person you all want to listen to.

I don't know how this became at all controversial among writers. I ask my students to read as much as they can. I try to do the same. It's vital for developing writing skills. Also, as the great Charlie Munger said:

Sometimes a student in one of my fiction writing classes will come see me during office hours and inform me they’re going to be a novelist. I always ask the same question: “Who are your favorite authors?” An alarming number of students can’t name a single novelist. Not one.

I would not be able to think about the writing I try to fit in my day. You have to see what people have done with language if you want to be a writer, just as you need to seriously listen to music if you want to be a serious musician.

Surprised this is so controversial. I am in a situation now with aging family members and increased domestic responsibilities that I have no time for recreational, and little time for professional, reading, but if not for the 30 years of literary reading I have put in/1
