Today was bittersweet as I left the bench, and I swore in my successor, Judge Brook Bell. I’ve enjoyed everything about serving the citizens of Tarrant County as Judge of Probate Court 2. Thank you to my family, staff, the attorneys, and the citizens who elected me. #Blessed
Today I was happy my AJ Brook Bell filed to be our next Judge of Probate Court 2. I’ve been provided a great opportunity to return to practice and will be doing so next year. This has been a hard decision, but one that was carefully and prayerfully decided. More details to follow

I will soon be swearing in Brook Bell again, but this time as our new associate judge of Probate Court 2. She was previously the first Public Probate Administrator in Texas.
Tarrant County facilities are closed today including the Old Courthouse. Therefore all dockets for Probate Court No. 2 are canceled and we will reschedule on Monday.
Probate Court 2 is remaining open today, Thurs, Jan 9th, although our dockets seemed to have cleared for probate and guardianship cases. We have contacted all attorneys handling mental health cases regarding how to proceed. We will be monitoring all filings for any emergencies.
As the cold weather continues, please remember we no longer follow FWISD. We will monitor the situation with Tarrant County and any delays, docket cancelations, or closings will be communicated to attorneys or parties who are pro se via social media and email.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.” Psalms 19:1 Here at the Old Courthouse in Tarrant County. Outside lights on sensors came on and the video shows the darkness before the light comes once again. #Eclipse2024
