20 years ago, I talked about how journalism in the digital age would be all about individual voices with direct, trustworthy relationships with their readers, listeners, and viewers.
So many institutional outlets didn't believe it. Nobody saw me as a "journalist," just a "blogger."
20 years later, it's ok to say this: I was right.

We need nonprofit funders to examine this Pew data much more closely. The U.S.-born news consumption by Latinos is overwhelmingly in English, and I think that funders have overlooked that fact for years. The more we can look at Latinos across all these sectors, the better we will serve our community as journalists.
