@VancouverSun @DouglasTodd Three indigenous bands are going after the Heppell Farm in Surrey BC. Ty Heppell is a fifth generation farmer and within the year they may no longer have their farm if this land claim goes through. One of the bands claiming is in the US.

Really ugly buildings snuggled up against the Burrard Street Bridge in an already very high density population and ohhhhh the traffic! The balconies have no overhangs above them, and the buildings themselves are all glass. Floor to ceiling glass buildings more often than not, leak. And btw, 1/2 of 1.5billion was loaned to the band out of the Ontario pension fund.

“Potato Ty” on TikTok is Tyler Heppell of Heppell’s farm located on 192nd & 36 Avenue Surrey BC. He is a 5th generation farmer on some very fertile land that his family leases from the government. Currently under the threat of #indigenouslandclaims it’s looking like the family may lose their farm & livelihood over this next year.
The Semiahmoo, Katzie, and Kwantlen First Nations (KKS) are working together to reclaim the land.

Eby stated that the Haida Gwaii land claims will be the template for B.C. land claims going forward. Now the precedent has been set, the deals are rapid being negotiated and implemented. Residents of B.C. haven’t bothered to take a publ stand so we remain not included and what we think does not matter. No doubt the government counted of the public to not speak out. They weren’t wrong.
