TL;DR CryptoRank → macro view, fast rankings. DefiLlama → granular, auditable, built for research. The data was never lying. You just needed to know what each platform was counting. That's where the real alpha is. Repost if this helped.

Golden rule before trusting any TVL number: 1. Is double-counting removed? 2. Are native tokens included? 3. How many chains are tracked? 4. On-chain data or market aggregation? If two platforms show wildly different numbers, that gap is the insight.

I checked TVL for the same protocol on CryptoRank and DefiLlama on the same day. Got a $5B+ difference. No glitch. No bug. Just two platforms measuring the same metric differently. Here's what's actually going on. 🧵
