Finally, Lactobacillus micheneri is highly prevalent in pollen provisions, feeding larvae, and nesting females, but was rare in newly emerged or lab-reared females, suggesting it is probably acquired from the external environment.

We also identified specific ASVs that are likely acquired from the nest or that change in abundance with age.
