Legacy media is dead. Long live citizen journalism! The US presidential campaign was further proof of what Elon Musk has been repeatedly predicting: citizen journalism is overtaking traditional media. While the winning candidate appeared in several independent podcasts for long conversations and posted himself on social media, the losing candidate gave only a few brief and edited interviews to legacy media and delegated social media posts to a PR team. This wasn't satisfying to many voters. People want to know what their political representatives really think, as human beings, and why they think what they think. Only then will they really trust them. As Elon Musk wrote, “Leaders should post [on 𝕏] directly, not hand the role to intermediaries. That is what works best. Mistakes will be made, but that’s what proves it’s real. People want authenticity.” To a future of citizen journalism and authenticity!

@film_girl Express subway to 125th, M60 to LGA. Will probably get you there faster than a car from brooklyn or midtown.

And don’t @ me about the M60. That thing only gets you to the UWS (like 125th street iirc) and then you’ve got to transfer multiple subway lines or take a very expensive cab, so it’s useless for the majority of travelers who don’t live on the UWS or aren’t staying uptown.

People are shitting on this but here’s the thing: if you could take the actual bus to the airport (and guarantee a seat on it) that would be fantastic. But you can’t. You can take multiple trains to try to do an AirTrain to JFK, but no direct route from Manhattan to LGA.

Once you understand Kardashev Scale, it becomes utterly obvious that essentially all energy generation will be solar.
Also, just do the math on solar on Earth and you soon figure out that a relatively small corner of Texas or New Mexico can easily serve all US electricity.

So many thoughts on the WordPress drama but I think my main takeaway is that it makes me sad. We should absolutely be having conversations about how commercial users of OSS contribute back, especially groups like webhosts. But the people being hurt the most right now are users.
