@mlycan12 Thanks Marsha, great stuff. The key sentence is the first one in the last paragraph. Unfortunately, not all parents get that. I’d love to hear how you and Julie set and maintain those boundaries. Go Tribe!

We recruit families. Our incoming class of 26 are in town this weekend and we encourage parents to come too. They hardly see their kids who are too busy running around and talking nonstop as they become besties already. But the parents hang with each other too. They already have a text group, they discover they have mutual connections—they made a dinner reservation together and talked and laughed for 4.5 hours. They were planning their collective roadtrips for the fall. They will become part of our Tribe family. The next phase is just as exciting for them, especially in a place like Williamsburg. Parents matter. As I was raising my own kids in a small town in Maine, my best friends seemed to mostly be parents of my kids’ friends. It was then I realized cool parents raise cool kids. Our parents understand from day 1 that all communication on the soccer front will be with their daughters and they all respect those boundaries. So why would we be so concerned with their personalities? It’s because they have huge influence and control over their child’s growth and development in college—and ultimately their ability to reach their potential. We don’t have the time or bandwidth to battle external forces. It helps if everyone’s flying in the same direction. Parents who are positive influences and supportive of the journey enhance the culture. #WelcomeToTheTribe #OneTribeOneFamily #CultureMatters @WMTribeWSOC

I was a D3 head coach. My salary was below the poverty line, and I was head coach + assistant AD🥴 Most D3 head coaches don’t make this much. Not sure how many D2s do. Something for young/new coaches when thinking about taking GA, video coordinator or manager volunteering route
IdentityTheftMAAC@MaacTheft

Syracuse pays their DOBO between 100 and 150K per year. Their DOBO. Think of what their assistants are making then and you'll see why the pool for coaches for MAAC schools to hire for head coaching spots is so slim every cycle.

It’s shameful that the D3 national championship isn’t broadcast on TV. Honestly makes no sense that the D2 championship is, but D3 is not.

I watched a lot of basketball this weekend, across all 3 NCAA levels. I’ll just say this - #d3hoops is in an incredible spot right now.

Mitchell at the buzzer! Mary Washington wins it, 75-73! And that's how the Division III MBB season ends! #d3hoops

I understand the difficulty with logistics and timing in putting the D3 title game on the same weekend as the D1 Final Four (whether it be MBB or WBB). But watching the reaction to today's game, and having been in Dallas for WBB in '23, it's easy to see how much of a net positive it is for #d3hoops when it does happen. Normally, the D3 title games are played on a Saturday afternoon/evening at the exact same time as D1 tournament games are going on. That greatly limits the reach of content/attention from the D3 games, regardless of how thrilling they are. I love the fact that we have so many people in the basketball world talking about the D3 MBB title game right now, sharing the end-of-game sequence on social media, and that a matchup of that magnitude was put on such a big stage. Hopefully #d3hoops gained a few more fans today.

Make that a National Championship Coach now🏆 Wild profession🤪 Run your own race. Find your fit. Including finding places (administrations) that can help you accomplish your goals💯 Btw NO TO on offense and won it in the chaos🫡 I try to tell you🤷🏼‍♂️
Sean Strickland@Coach__Strick

This is how hard it was to win where we made only NCAA tourney in school history… The only D3 coach in history to take 2 different programs to National Champ game wasn’t able to do what we did at that school🤷🏼‍♂️ Fits are just as important for coaches as they are for players💯
