He actually does.
The whole movie is about him being shunned/bullied by his friends (who also bullied her) and everyone else.
He grows up, develops social anxiety and wants to kill himself because he hates himself that much for the way he treated her. Only not going through with it because he wants to make it up to her, even though they were actual middle schoolers when this occurred.
He learns sign language, helps her sister and practically dedicates himself to her, and the entire message is a beautiful one. That you can always atone for what you've done and anyone is capable of change and becoming a better person.
How ironic that message is lost on Twitter users.

Just a reminder: in 1982, when Great Britain was attacked by Argentina, starting the Falklands War, the United States did not come to their aid because the Falklands are not in the North Atlantic and the British did not bitch about it.
In 1956, when the French and British attacked Egypt, causing the Suez Crisis, despite the fact that France and Great Britain are in NATO, the United States not only refused to assist, but went to the United Nations to condemn them for attacking Egypt.
In 2019, when Turkey decided to attack Syria, the Trump administration had the Pentagon send out an official notice that they did not support the campaign and would not send troops.
So kindly shut the fuck up, everyone in the White House.

Unpopular Opinion: Modern shonen is objectively better than the entire “Big Three” except One piece. Naruto and Bleach combined don’t have the writing, animation, or cultural impact of what’s dropping right now.

So let me see if I understand this correctly.
Barack Obama negotiated a deal with Iran that lifted sanctions on their country and exchange for international monitoring of their weapons program along with several other concessions.
Donald Trump came into office and unilaterally blew up that deal.
Now a decade leader in his second term, Donald Trump has without the approval of Congress initiated an unprovoked military attack on Iran, and in order to end said conflict is demanding Iran comply with a number of self serving proposals, many of which were already covered under Obama’s initial deal.
