My thanks to the Abraham Global Peace Initiative, CEO @AviBenlolo, and Honorary Chair Paul Godfrey, for the invitation to speak in Toronto this week and receive the Defender of Israel Award. We must continue to stand with the state of Israel and speak out against antisemitism in all its forms.

@acoyne Did your account get hacked? Your posts aren't rational. This isn't normal for you.

This is an emergency. The key posts in the government of the United States, responsible for the safety and security of not just the US but the democratic world, at a time of maximum international peril, are now in the hands of some of the most dangerously incompetent, corrupt, and fanatical people on the face of the Earth.
English

@acoyne The only qualification required is to have the trusted of the elected official who appoints him to cabinet, the US President. So yes, he's qualified. That's how democracy works.
English

So he's clearly qualified to run an $850 billion department with 3 million employees whose responsibility is nothing less than the defence of the free world. This is a joke, right?
At a time when fascist dictators are on the march, when Europe is facing attack and threats of nuclear war hang in the air, all you need to run the world's largest military is a combat vet with a master's degree, who's never run anything or commanded more than a couple of hundred troops. Oh, but hang on: as a commenter notes, he also played *varsity basketball* at Princeton.
Tribalism is a hell of a drug.

Pete Hegseth has a BA from Princeton and a Masters in Public Policy from the Kennedy School at Harvard. He’s an author and combat vet. To Coyne, he’s just “The Fox News guy” to freak out about. Coyne should calm down or he’s going to have a rough 4 years.

@acoyne If I may offer a suggestion to such a learned political commentator. Try exploring the reasons why Americans resoundlingly endorsed him. There are many rational policy reasons that can lead to a lot of positive results for the US and Canada.

My latest: We are nowhere near to being ready for the chaos that is coming our way.

@acoyne I used to enjoy your thoughtful analysis. I still enjoy reading your work even without the thoughtfulness you used to use. The latest example is riddled with name calling and speculation.

@elonmusk You're making a big leap in logic. While new immigrants may certainly support the party that helped get them there, it doesn't necessarily follow that their votes would always do so. Liberals in Canada enjoyed the support of immigrants and lost them to Tories.

Very few Americans realize that, if Trump is NOT elected, this will be the last election. Far from being a threat to democracy, he is the only way to save it!
Let me explain: if even 1 in 20 illegals become citizens per year, something that the Democrats are expediting as fast as humanly possible, that would be about 2 million new legal voters in 4 years.
The voting margin in the swing states is often less than 20 thousand votes. That means if the “Democratic” Party succeeds, there will be no more swing states!!
Moreover, the Biden/Harris administration has been flying “asylum seekers”, who are fast-tracked to citizenship, directly into swing states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin and Arizona. It is a surefire way to win every election.
America then becomes a one-party state and Democracy is over. The only “elections” will be the Democratic Party primaries. This already happened in California many years ago, following the 1986 amnesty.
The only thing holding California back from extreme socialism and suffocating government policies is that people can leave California and still remain in America. Once the whole country is controlled by one party, there will be no escape.
Everywhere in America will be like the nightmare that is downtown San Francisco.
@amuse@amuse
@BasedMikeLee All according to plan. Guess how many migrants are eligible for naturalization under the current rules? 9 million…

I have some news. I’m joining the @PrairiesCanEN leadership team in Sept as ADM Alberta Region. We are going to keep building big things together in #Alberta. Just from a different vantage point for me.
English

@Todstrick Where can I get my hands on that? Love to read it.
English

@ChrisLaBossiere He does it on the golf course, near the cart path between the 3rd green and 4th tee at Fort McMurray Golf Club. It's a regular spot.
English

@babiak I wish I could empathize... no I don't. High oil prices are just fine.

It's fun to see @babiak and Brand Tasmania as fellow finalists for City/Nation/Place 2021 awards. Way to go Todd! #ymm #fmwb citynationplace.com/awards/finalis…
