Lebanon should make peace with Israel. Lebanon should join the Abraham Accords. There should be an Israeli embassy in Beirut and a Lebanese embassy in Jerusalem. These shouldn’t be controversial opinions.

UN Security Council Resolution 1701 committed Lebanon to withdraw Hezbollah north of the Litani River in 2006. Why did Lebanon not do that in: 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025? And why should Israel believe that Lebanon will suddenly do it in 2026?

My family fled the Islamic Regime because of religious persecution. We lost everything, came to America with nothing, and rebuilt our lives from scratch. But because I am Jewish, DEI labels me “white” and “privileged.” Qassem Soleimani’s niece is a Regime loyalist who allegedly lied about needing asylum so she could live a lavish life with money stolen from the Iranian people. But because she is an Iranian Muslim, DEI labels her “brown” and “oppressed.” Only in the twisted DEI version of ‘equity’ does the victim of persecution get labeled privileged…while the Regime loyalist gets labeled oppressed. And under Mamdani’s “racial equity” plan, I would pay a higher tax rate than someone like Soleimani’s niece. This isn't social justice. It's race-based discrimination dressed up as fairness.

This is the first post I’ve gotten in response to my original comment that is civil and has some measure of intelligence attached to it instead of insult. I was educated in significant part by the Jesuits. I have high regard for them and for the writings and actions the recent Pope Benedict and John Paul, and for the writings of St Augustine and Thomas Aquinas. I think the church has obviously lost its way under the two most recent popes. I find the current pope to be largely indecipherable, banal, incredibly presumptuous, naive and childlike. He has waded into US politics far beyond his jurisdiction. Dangerously so.
