Last episode of TADC really hit home for me as a DM. I work and I slave to come up with adventures for them, and they never seem to quite appreciate it. Maybe I should write a demented musical number about my godlike awesomeness.

The concept of soulmates, on its own, isn't the worst thing in the world, but I, personally, have had more negative experiences with it than positive ones and I think there's a very easy explanation as to why. A common flaw made in storytelling is when something happens clearly because the writer wanted/needed it to rather than because it's something the character(s) would do. "Soulmates" is usually the excuse writers make when they really want/need two characters to be together, regardless if that's the best and/or most organic decision for the story. Also, from what I've seen, most people tend to like media that promotes not being a slave to fate. Soulmates is the opposite of that and it gets under your skin when it's a ship you don't like.

@shadydoorags I think I get what he's trying to say, but the transaction of good deeds is usually made under the assumption that there's no guaranteed reward. That said, it would be nice if the bad guys got punished more often than the good guys, in lasting and crippling ways.
