@fahadimran800 Not everyone who creates art is trying to build a public persona online. Some people study or create privately.

@KuonLabs An artist that is not on social media, you guys found someone from the renaissance time or something?

For this first release, the person involved in the visual is not an artist working publicly through social media. It is someone we know personally, who helped develop SHIRO NIJI under KUON’s own visual direction. From the next drop, we plan to work with credited artists and properly highlight people who live through their art.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. We agree that if Ra values were measured the same way and randomly varied from 1.6 to 2.4 across final units, that could create a noticeable difference in surface feel. That is not the intention. The Ra value mentioned in the article is a working surface reference used to reach the intended controlled-speed feel, not an announcement that final production will include random surface variations across that full range. Ra also does not define the entire surface behavior by itself. Measurement method, texture direction, peak distribution, skates, pressure, and consistency control all matter. We are happy to continue this in DMs and keep the discussion precise. We would have preferred this kind of technical concern to be raised directly first, before giving the public impression that we intend to sell multiple different-feeling surfaces under one product.

Yes, I completely understand that. That Ra range feels far too wide for a glass mousepad surface. Assuming the measurements are taken the same way, 1.6 Ra would feel much closer to a semi-smooth surface, while 2.4 Ra would be noticeably more textured. On glass pads, that difference can completely change the glide, feedback, and overall feel from unit to unit. I’ve had the chance to consult with several top glass suppliers and speak with people who have real experience producing this type of product, so I just wanted to share what I’ve learned. I’m not saying this to criticize at all. I genuinely want to see the product do well and just wanted to help point things in the right direction. I’d also be happy to explain how Ra works in DMs if that helps. 🍻

I love supporting new brands and just wanted to help point you in the right direction with some information. An RA range of 1.6 to 2.4 is a huge difference. That is almost like having 8 different mousepads within the same batch, since each small change in RA can noticeably affect the surface feel. I would definitely consider tightening the RA tolerance a lot more, ideally within around ±0.1 to ±0.2, to keep the glide and feel more consistent across units. Wishing you the best of luck, just wanted to share some info that might help!

@fahadimran800 It’s not. SHIRO NIJI was developed under KUON’s own visual direction for this first release. Artist collaborations are already being explored for future drops.

@A_R_E_S_Aim @UnwsGear Unusual Way Sports can answer if they wish to. From our side, we will stop engaging here. Trying to make us look dishonest or discredit our work through speculation is bad-faith behavior. KUON wishes you the best.

Thank you, that’s a very relevant question. Unusual Way Sports sent us several types of skates / dots to test. Some aimers who are specifically experienced with skates and glass surfaces will help us identify which model fits SHIRO NIJI best and should be included in the final bundle.
