@sysadafterdark I’m slowly starting my migration away. Been using my MacBook Pro as my daily driver for a bit but jesus wept it hates my Unraid server. Fired up an old XPS and put Mint on that bad boy and I’m surprised how seamless everything has been. I’m on board the Linux train now!

I officially have three Windows computers left in my house: DC1, DC2 and File1. Game plan is to rsync all my data over to my NFS server and use FreeIPA auto mounts + permissions to access files. Windows. Not even once.

All of the people who have been telling me they use Plex on a server to stream the highest quality image to their OLED tvs are bullshit, I don't buy that you are actually investing in and managing the storage systems to handle files that large for an extensive collection of films, and then what? you're connecting the plex server to your tv with a wired connection to make sure there's absolutely no transcoding and it's a stable stream or whatever, yeah? you are doing all of that? You are doing all of that instead of just buying a fucking blu-ray or going to a local video store that's still open and can rent you a blu-ray for $3.95 for like 5 days? you are doing all of that instead? come on man you're not. you don't have the discipline. There's no way your bitrate is pure and legit.

@tomwarren How does this work for activating legacy versions of Windows? Phone activation meant I could still activate XP, Vista, Office ‘07, etc… on my retro computers without the need for a server that no longer exists….
