To ensure your pets stay healthy and happy during the festivities, here are some important things to keep in mind: 1. Beware of Thanksgiving Foods •Turkey bones and fatty foods: Cooked bones can splinter and cause serious harm, while rich, fatty foods can lead to pancreatitis. Keep them out of reach! •Onions, garlic, and spices: Common in many Thanksgiving dishes, these ingredients are toxic to pets. •Desserts with xylitol or chocolate: Xylitol (a sweetener) and chocolate are highly toxic to pets. Watch out for desserts like pies, cookies, and candies. 2. Secure the Trash Pets are curious, and the smell of leftover food and scraps can tempt them to dig through the trash. Dispose of leftovers securely to prevent accidental ingestion of harmful items. 3. Keep Alcohol Away Even a small amount of alcohol can be dangerous for pets. Be sure to place drinks in areas they can’t reach. 4. Safe Spaces for Anxious Pets With more guests and noise, some pets may feel stressed. Create a quiet, cozy space where they can retreat if they need a break. 5. Decorations and Candles Keep decorations, especially those with small pieces, out of reach.
