@Murk441 I absolutely did, I actually took my drivers test when I was 16 in dad's pickup. The only thing I was marked down on was using the outside mirrors to back up but that is the way I learned.

It was awesome before California communists destroyed it. I miss it, you can't imagine how wonderful it used to be.

@WIllbond182 @BBGreatMoments When I read your post a couple of quotes from Mark Twain came to mind, "No amount of evidence will ever persuade an idiot" and "Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience." Good luck with your clickbait.

I know it was less convenient. You had to drive there, burn the gas, walk in, and hope what you wanted was still on the shelf. Convenience is not the same as a better experience. I still miss this. There was something fun about walking the aisles, picking up different movies, changing your mind, finding something you were not even looking for, and making a whole night out of it. That was the experience. Now you pay for a subscription, then get told to rent the movie anyway, and somehow it costs more than it used to. Tell me I am not the only one who misses that. And if you are too young to remember this, you missed out.

@Jimfrombaseball He was tough but I think I am going to give the award for the toughest player to Ray Caldwell, in 1919 the Cleveland Indians pitcher was struck by lightning in the 9th inning and after being revived after 5 minutes he finished the game.

"I'll never forget that first night with the team. Going to the ballpark on the bus was the hardest 30 minutes of my life. I had to walk down that aisle between all the players. I really didn't know too much about the Detroit Tigers at that time. All of a sudden I'm in the major leagues and we're travelling from town to town. I see the other players dressing different every day. I've got only one suit and I keep wearing it over and over. I'm really embarrassed." Al Kaline. At Comiskey, the Tigers Al Kaline is knocked out cold from a Bob Shaw pitch in the sixth inning during the Tigers 7-1 win over the White Sox. The 23-year-old right fielder would have to be carried off the field on a stretcher and taken to the hospital for x-rays, which came back negative. Al Kaline would miss only one game and return to the lineup against the Cleveland Indians, hitting a 3 run triple in a 5-1 win. September 25, 1958.

I love his books, always a good read for a 15 hour flight because it usually took about 150 pages for it to get going. I always remember his quote about the government, "What the government is good at is collecting taxes, taking away your freedoms, and killing people. It's not good at much else."

Born on this day in 1947, Tom Clancy came to define the modern techno-thriller. I read THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER soon after its publication and have many fond memories escaping into the pages of each new Clancy novel over the ensuing years. I remember exactly where I was as I cracked their covers. I already had my sights set on the SEAL Teams when John Clark first appeared in THE CARDINAL OF THE KREMLIN. When WITHOUT REMORSE hit shelves, I immediately immersed myself in the origin story of the former Navy SEAL and CIA legend. That book in particular remains an old friend. Do you have a favorite Tom Clancy novel?

If you like old photos this one is on my first birthday which would be in July, 1953 along with my dad and brother. I don't want to brag but you can see we had 2 pools. That beaten path right behind leads next door to my grandparents and I spent so much time there. Not sure why I had my fingers like that because that is not easy to do.

@Zendra3408 When I was a kid I would help the farrier, I would hold the horse and some horses really did not like the process and if they reared up I would go right up with them and of course the farrier would yell at me to hold the horse still, they would only out weighed me ten to one.
