@realDonJunk @JamesKratch Oh I don’t know, maybe the 1000’s of people that are employed because of athletics, the restaurants full on game days, the hotels in the area. You know all the Econ 101 stuff. I see your a Ped St guy so you obviously understand the impact to the area you just want to shit on RU

@LarryKap @JamesKratch Yeah, where's all the evidence of this "economic impact"? In its home state, Rutgers is already the big dog, sports or not. And outside of New Jersey, Rutgers is viewed as a punchline for its athletics. Its academics are respected, of course.

@JamesKratch @realDonJunk Schools in the Patriot League have average student bodies of about 8000. If RU played in the Patriot League no one would care. Expenses would go down and revenues would likely go down more.

@realDonJunk @LarryKap I think it's more of a question about what Rutgers would look like if it never decided to go to what we know call FBS. My guess is it would be in the Patriot League and be pretty good at most sports.

@realDonJunk @JamesKratch The schools you mention have student populations of 50-60% of Rutgers. My point is that so little of the state contribution is going towards athletics and athletics brings way more economic impact to the school and area than what is calculated strictly by athletics revenue

@LarryKap @JamesKratch What *would* the school be without athletics? I'd love to know. Probably more like Stony Brook, Buffalo, UC Irvine, or UC San Diego. Is that bad? Is there any evidence that athletics is important at Rutgers?

@JamesKratch Try measuring the financial impact of athletics on the school and surrounding areas rather than just using athletic revenue. Fewer applicants, students, donations and overall spending in the community by a long shot! Not to mention research dollars, quality of faculty etc.

@JamesKratch So tired of these stupid arguments. 18% of RU’s budget comes from state funding and athletics is 3% of the university’s total budget. Where would the school be without athletics? Not saying there can’t or shouldn’t be changes but people need to get a grip!

I’m back to not caring if any of these guys come back. Mark has as many minuses as pluses, Frances forcing shots, Nwuli taking 3’s 🤦🏻‍♂️ Grant non-existent. Looks like we made zero use of prep time.

@NJHoopsHaven @YouTube Fun fact; I was a junior in high school and in the Clifton Marching Band. We played for all the vendors picking up their gear the night before and had a photo opp with Christie Todd Whitman. I’ll see if I can find the photo.

Among multiple asks in his lawsuit, a Rutgers grad wants his alma mater to "make restitution to the State of New Jersey for all amounts deemed to have been improperly used" and for there to be "an independent financial audit" of RU athletics. More here: nj.com/rutgers/2026/0…

@UNC_Basketball @WellsFargo That’s it. I’ve been a North Carolina fan since 1901. I just smashed my TV in front of 100 guests because of the game. My wife just took our crying kids and said they're all spending the week at a hotel. I’m taking my fanhood to Notre Dame. Goodbye UNC, I’m no longer a fan.

@Uber SCAM ALERT for pickups at EWR drivers are indicating that they have “arrived” well before they do. You then get charged a wait time fee. Uber must know as it is the first thing that pops up in their help menu and they automatically refund it without any explanation required

@NikkiNic9384 Umm Rutgers was left behind by BC, VT, Miami and Cuse. We were relegated to the American Conference and thankfully got an invite to the B1G. Don’t call yourself a sportscaster if you don’t know what you’re talking about and are not willing to do the slightest bit of research.

Sorry Syracuse & Rutgers. You left the Big East to chase that football money. I need these colleges to understand that the Northeast is a college basketball region. We don’t care about college football up here like the south And certainly don’t care about RU football 🤣

Rutgers is the ONLY major college football program in New Jersey, a state with 9 million people and some of the best high school talent in the country. 🏆 They're located in the New York City media market, the largest in the nation. They joined the Big Ten specifically because it would give them access to massive revenue and recruiting advantages. 🏆 🤯 And yet... $517M in losses, zero winning seasons in Big Ten play, and they can't even keep New Jersey's top recruits home. The infrastructure is there. The money is there. The market is there. But the results? Nowhere to be found. 🤷‍♂️

@CraigHelfgott Stats don’t lie but there is a reason we take mid-range shots. We have ZERO presence in the paint and ZERO guys who shoot above 40% from 3.

Max always comes through with the best stats to again prove why we aren’t crazy & why major change is needed in how we approach the game. You cannot win this way. With a $10 million budget or a $3 million budget
The RU Screw Podcast@RUScrewPod

@On3Richie that's what happens when you're among the D1 leaders in most games this season with 10+ mid range shots attempted.
