Jaylen Brown sounded off on the officiating after the Celtics attempted just 4 free-throws tonight: “I'll accept the fine at this point. I thought it was some bullshit tonight. They're a good defensive team, but they ain't that damn good. I hope somebody can just pull up the clips, because it's the same shit every time we play a good team. It's like they refuse to make a call, then they call touch fouls on the other end, and that's just extremely frustrating, bro… Every time we play a good team the inconsistency is crazy. I'll take the fucking fine.”

A Celtics fan saw Isaiah Thomas out to dinner last night in Boston and left him a kind note instead of interrupting him. That’s awesome. Being at games during those bridge years between the Big 3 and the Jays era was special. Isaiah Thomas wasn’t a champion in Boston, but the way he played every night brought a whole new generation of young fans into the Celtics fanbase. If you were at those games, or watched them you know exactly what I mean. This small note is a reminder of why I love being a Celtics fan. ☘️

What's your main takeaway from the Celtics dealing the Cavs a loss behind a balanced team effort, and 30 points from Jaylen Brown?

The more time I spend in the public market, the more opportunity I see in small caps. If a business is complex or does multiple things, has lumpy earnings, or a complex balance sheet, the stocks seem to trade at ridiculous discounts. Especially when they're small and low liquidity—the complexity just isn't worth an investment manager's time. After all, the public market wants you to look like a duck and quack like a duck and go up in a straight line. You either need to be a unicorn (insane, simple growth story, no earnings required) or a horse (straightforward business with slow, predictable growth and earnings). It really doesn't like zebras (a mix). They're hard to understand and often get shot by accident. “If I was running $1 million today, or $10 million for that matter, I’d be fully invested. Anyone who says that size does not hurt investment performance is selling. The highest rates of return I’ve ever achieved were in the 1950s… I think I could make you 50% a year on $1 million. No, I know I could. I guarantee that.” –Warren Buffett I'd wager this is why. Small cap investors: send me your most deeply misunderstood tickers to research 🤓
