Saw Hail Mary last night. Excellent. Ending felt a little rushed, but overall the cuts from the book to translate to the screen were pretty much perfect. Andy Weir's annoying authorial voice (I'll call it "earnest snark") is toned down and hits different coming from Gosling.

I think this is a good piece that exposes an important truth, but I don't like "dinergoth". The phenomenon has little to do with goth and less to do with diners. A proper term would connote low SES, self-uglification, androgyny, and internet ghetto culture.

Most people that don’t enjoy their dogs after a certain point are having issues from choosing a breed based on aesthetics, cuteness, with zero regard for breed traits. Dachshunds are wonderful, but if you’re going to get angry when they bark and tree a squirrel, forget it.
