Hey Minneapolis, Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC), our Level 1 trauma center, is in deep trouble. They're facing massive shortfalls, already closed 100 beds, cut programs, and laid off staff. Without real fixes, critical care for the uninsured and low-income folks across the metro could get even worse. This is classic big-government healthcare: endless bureaucracy, waste, and shortages. More taxpayer bailouts or sales tax hikes won't solve the root problems. We need real competition, less regulation, and actual accountability so people get better care without bankrupting the city. Those policies are city wide which uptown is part of the city (minimum wage mandates, predictive scheduling, permitting delays, signage restrictions, short-term rental bans, climbing commercial property taxes). Uptown gets crushed harder because it’s packed with small restaurants, bars, and shops that can’t absorb the costs the way bigger districts can which is why these regulations need to be reexamined or abolished completely

Most of those policies are city-wide.... and that’s exactly the problem. Uptown gets hammered harder because it’s a dense commercial/entertainment district full of small businesses and restaurants. Sky-high minimum wage + predictive scheduling rules make staffing a nightmare. City-wide permitting delays, signage restrictions, short-term rental bans, and climbing commercial property taxes hit these neighborhoods first and worst. Add in the crime and disorder the city refuses to treat seriously, and it becomes impossible for many businesses to survive.

Legal immigrants who come through the proper process and follow the rules are often net contributors to Minnesota’s economy. What actually hurts small businesses and taxpayers is unchecked illegal immigration combined with sanctuary policies that force us to subsidize welfare, hospital overloads like HCMC, crime, and failing services.... all while taxes and regulations keep rising on the very businesses you claim to support. That’s not Econ 101, that’s basic cause-and-effect. If you fail to grasp this concept you should be no where near political office

Businesses and schools are hurting because years of sanctuary policies, DFL resistance to federal law, and open-border chaos forced the feds to step in.... all while taxpayers already foot the bill for fraud, crime, and failing services. He grew government spending, added trillions to the debt, pushed lockdowns, supported bailouts, and never seriously cut the size of the state. Just like the Democrats, he treats government as a tool for his own priorities instead of strictly limiting it. Both parties are two sides of the same big-government coin. Real freedom doesn’t come from swapping one statist for another. We must forge our own way forward, one that stands for voluntary solutions over one that uses coercion to control the individual.
