AI agents are evolving into persistent state machines. Their memory, past actions, learned knowledge, decisions must be verifiable and tamper-proof. Today, most rely on temporary vector databases, centralized APIs, or volatile local storage. These reset on restarts, can be censored, altered, or lost entirely. No cryptographic proof of history. No real trust. Verifiable storage changes this. It requires: - Persistence: pay-once, long term storage - Encryption: client-side, secured keys - Content-addressing: any change breaks the hash/CID - Access control: token-gated, revocable, time-locked - Decentralization: no single point of failure or rewrite Lighthouse delivers exactly this!

Today we successfully stopped a 1M+ requests/hour inorganic bot attack on our Lighthouse data retrieval gateway. It had been running for the last few weeks and was identified a few days ago.

.@LighthouseWeb3 SDK v0.4.4 adds native CAR file support for data stored on Filecoin. Developers can upload pre-built .car archives that already contain a full content-addressed DAG. The network receives the archive as is, which preserves structure.

You’re right, decentralization alone doesn’t guarantee verifiability. What matters is cryptographic integrity. If agent memory is content addressed, any modification changes the CID. You cannot silently alter state without changing the identifier. That’s how Lighthouse approaches storage. Data is content addressed and retrieval is deterministic, so integrity is mathematically tied to the hash.

Two months ago, @LighthouseWeb3 introduced x402 for pay-per-use uploads to IPFS with Filecoin backed storage. Each request returns a 402 Payment Required response. The client pays in USDC on @base, retries with the transaction hash, and receives the CID after confirmation.
