@MemeSouthe@bagshaw2112 My knickers were bottle green! An all girls school where we also had to walk across a road in them to get to the red gra/athletics ground in mid winter. 🥶
@bagshaw2112 I was a gymnast I loved doing this sort of thing when I was older. I’m in my 60s, and pretty sure we didn’t have a mat back then in the 60s! Vaguely remember doing this around the age of six or seven in the infant hall during a PE class.
@conservativeCBr@bagshaw2112 Yep, I’m sure you’re right. Mats were just for landings not for falls! And in the 70s I’m not sure we had mats anyway! At least I don’t remember them
@Oberje@bagshaw2112 Yep, this sounds about right! Although I’m not sure we always had a Matt either! I think The thinking behind it all was that mats were for a landing only not for a fall!
@metaverse899@usskiteam None of us are Olympic level ski coaches, or qualified physicians/Drs. Yet reading some of the comments here you’d think otherwise with judgements made about her injuries or whether she should’ve competed in the Olympics! Leave it to the experts!
Caerphilly by-election result:
Plaid Cymru GAIN from Labour
Lindsay Whittle is elected on his 14th attempt, as Reform power into second place. Labour and the Conservatives' vote shares collapse.

@KanishkaNarayan As our Vale MP I’d really like to see bilingual posters as both languages in Wales have parity. Can you confirm this is the case please?

Said it before I’ll say it again. If you can afford a holiday that’s fine. But for those of us who can’t, taking your kids to the beach for a paddle, or swim in a river is now a luxury we’ve had taken away. It may not sound like much to you but for us it was everything. So knowing water companies would rather pay their shareholders than look after the infrastructure, why should WE be bailing them out? We should renationalise… who’s gonna look after it better, a company who chose to neglect the system and pay shareholders or us as country owning it again?
@QuriousMr@bazhsw8183 In theory this sounds great, however it wouldn’t address this problem or the current issues state schools are facing in their classrooms: disruptive behaviour, class sizes, pupil social and emotional problems, lack of parental support, staff and funding levels.
Totally agree, but the system should be about raising standards of state schools to the level of private schools. Level up, NOT down. Starting with schools sharing learning best practices and experiential learning, to improve that can bring in more for less. Motivation for critical thinking is key, something not on most curriculum but embedded in private teaching.
🧵 about #class#privilege and #privateeducation. Watching the Olympic swimming last night and Clare Balding said something in such an incredulous tone which summed up the establishment perspective and how their experience differs. 1/
@VictoriaCob2@bazhsw8183@laidmanr If your school is in a deprived area, then the PTA may not have the skills or connections to function as well as a PTA in a more affluent area. PTA in affluent areas are likely to be far more effective at fundraising and providing opportunities.
