So excited to be starting a new role in @itvnews’ UK Bureau, working with the incredible @PaulBrandITV! It is such an important brief and @NathanLeeTV leaves some enormous shoes to fill. I couldn’t be more proud to join a team whose journalism has such impact.

Thank you @PaulBrandITV for including my perspective as someone who does not support the assisted dying bill. I fear for those without care who feel they have no other choice. I don’t want a choice for myself if it means further suffering for others.

Campaigners for assisted dying gather outside Holyrood for today’s vote. Having spoken to many sources, it genuinely remains on a knife-edge. Those opposed to the bill will also gather later this morning. Several MSPs have switched to oppose the bill in recent days.

It doesn’t matter how much time is given to this bill because the sponsors are refusing to accept any amendments which strengthen safeguards, many put forward by organisations like the Law Society or the Kings College complex life and death decisions group. Madness.
