Thames Valley Police have opened an investigation into an offence of misconduct in public office. A man in his sixties from Norfolk has been arrested and remains in police custody. As per national guidance we will not name the arrested man. Read more: orlo.uk/Jhrou

In their press releases about the Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor inquiry, @ThamesVP refer only to a “man in his 60s”. Yet they clearly want the media to name Andrew in order to give the case publicity & encourage people to come forward. There are double standards, here. Police can name suspects who are under investigation where there’s a policing purpose - and I think Thames Valley Police should do that and not hide behind the media.
