A few months ago, Warren Smith hadn't heard about the double slit experiment, but after watching some youtube videos about it, it really made him think. Then he even wrote about it in his book! Unfortunately, he seems fairly confused about it.

I have an assignment for anyone who can help.
I want to find movie stills or screenshots of scenes that depict a big disembodied head looking down at a subject in the center of the scene. I know this was a 70s/80s thing, but I can’t list examples off the top of my head.

I get these are racist bait accounts, but do people really believe the National Mall is some somber hallowed ground and not where people play kickball, train for marathons, have picnics? It hosts one of the biggest 4th of July fireworks shows in the country, it’s not Auschwitz.

Those school children and students of ten years ago, with their highly moralistic, Manichean politics and otherworldly theories on gender and race, are now the voters of today.
They are also our first post-literate generation, a demographic which doesn’t read newspapers, which doesn’t read books willingly, who instead get their politics on their smartphones from emotive TikTok videos devoid of nuance, depth and context.
This is the demographic with a reduced attention span that doesn’t even listen to radio bulletins or watch the news from reputed broadcasting organisations.

@theronster @PatMillsComics So in terms of what seems 'dominant' I can understand that still being the superhero stuff. It's a vast machine, images of Spiderman (or similar) are everywhere. In supermarkets etc. In regular corner stores.

@theronster @PatMillsComics That's all fair. I don't think comics and graphic novels should be considered the same thing because the content is similar. I wouldn't compare book sales to newspapers for the same reason.
And the US stuff projects a vast amount of media power- marvel studios etc.

That's the myth. The reality is Japan: Top. France: Second. USA: Third. We were (are?) conditioned to believe in USA. I had a VERY hostile attitude towards US Culture from early childhood because Ipswich was a mini-colony of the various nearby US bases. Not a good experience

@theronster @PatMillsComics That's really interesting. But not the case in UK as far as I can tell, top 10 comics are all DC and MARVEL.
Again, means little to me. I don't like superhero comics, think manga and BD stuff isbetter. Its just that the American publishers have a vast machine to drive them.

In my view the primary destructive force here is that of car dependency. Village high streets die in an "everyone drives" world where most of the local community are commuting into a city to work all day.
