Each year in winter we see an increase in the number of #fires caused by heating, but there is a lot you can do to protect yourself, your family and your home. Install smoke alarms in all bedrooms, living areas and hallways, and test them each month by pressing the test button.

A fantastic result. MFB’s quick response to emergency medical incidents alongside our @AmbulanceVic colleagues is saving lives and that is something we can all be proud of. 👏🚒🚑

Last month our firefighters responded to 300 medical emergencies. MFB co-responds with the nearest @AmbulanceVic crew and provides life-saving emergency care to patients who are unconscious, aren't breathing or who don't have a pulse. #NotJustFires #WeWorkAsOne

In a fire, the location of a smoke alarm can be the difference between life and death. This is why it is vital to have interconnected smoke alarms throughout your home so when one alarm activates, all smoke alarms will sound.

Firefighters are currently on scene in Collingwood after a a high pressure gas main ruptured on Langridge St just after 10:30am. Crews have set up hose lines to disperse the gas vapours and are working to isolate the leak.

Through regular training and drills our firefighters remain ready to tackle any emergency that arises. This is a great example of how our Urban Search and Rescue firefighters put their knowledge and skills to work to stabilise a damaged building.

MFB firefighters and High Angle Rescue Technicians responded to Strathmore today after a person sustained an injury while working at height. Crews set up rope lines before securing the patient and safely lowered them down to ground level and into the care of 🚑. #NotJustFires

Our latest campaign with @CFA_Updates is urging Victorians to be fire safe and install interconnected smoke alarms in all bedrooms, living areas and hallways. There is no point having a smoke alarm if it isn’t working properly, or if it’s in the wrong location.
