A personal update… Four years ago, I joined Consensys with a clear mission: to lead MetaMask Institutional — defining who the product was for, why and how our product would be better than anyone else, and implementing a repeatable, scalable sales model. Over those years, we built a product suite with three core experiences, launched the world’s first multi-custodial wallet, established several ecosystem integration standards, integrated 14 world-class custodians, built a DeFi adapter standard and onboarded hundreds of organizations. We started with small team of four and grew into several experience and platform engineering and product teams, design, the go-to-market and operations. We also built a product suite with the 3X of what is considered to be stellar engagement and retention rates for any product. Our users loved MMI. None of this would have been possible without an incredible team. Product Leadership and Leadership itself is an act of service to the Team and it has been my honour and privilege to serve, work with, learn from, be in the trenches with, mentor and lead the incredible humans that made up MetaMask Institutional. For those that know me, I believe that in life that chemistry beats physics. The MMI Team had chemistry second to none. It has also been a privilege to work with the incredibly talented and exceptional humans that make up Consensys. Folks that have literally defined and built the industry. I am profoundly proud and grateful for my time at the firm and to be part of the Consensys alumni and family. It’s funny how the dots connect when looking back. My career began in global macro portfolio management, but the arch has always been to use the next wave of technology to democratize finance and build better financial systems—from TradFi to Fintech to DeFi. As a Product Lead or Founder, I believe you should ideally build for a version of yourself. With MMI, I found myself building a product and business for the users that wear the exact same hat I first wore when I started my career. At the start of this year, we decided to merge the core and advanced Institutional platform into MetaMask to serve all users. This marked a significant milestone to unify the user experience across MetaMask’s three core interfaces for all users, ensuring that institutions and individuals alike benefit from a single, cohesive product experience. A democratisation in of itself. With this chapter complete, it has felt like a perfect time for a new direction and time to leave Consensys. As a first immediate next step, I will be taking my first holiday in four years. I’ll also be doing some startup advisory work and angel investing —before creating the next dot…
